8 things to do in the Bay Area this Memorial Day weekend
Memorial Day weekend is upon us marking the unofficial start of summer.
State of play: If you're not traveling out of town, here are a few things to add to your agenda.
🎸 Kick it off with BottleRock Napa Valley. The music festival will feature Green Day, Benson Boone, Khruangbin and more.
Doors open at 11:30am Friday through Sunday at the Napa Valley Expo at 575 3rd St.
General admission costs $233 for a one-day ticket and $456 for a three-day ticket.
🪇 Celebrate the Bay Area's Latino, Caribbean and African diasporic communities at Carnaval, which will include a lineup featuring 60 different organizations and groups and more than 3,000 artists.
Parade starts 10am Saturday at 24th and Bryant.
Festival runs 11am-6pm Saturday and Sunday in the Mission District.
🏳️🌈 Cheer on the first-ever Chinatown Pride procession as part of a festival honoring resistance through art, dance and storytelling.
6-10pm Saturday at Edge on the Square at 800 Grant Ave.
🛼 Check out special performances by local drag-on-wheels legends Front Street Bois, Mojo Carter and Mariana Grajales at Rollin' with the Homos.
4-7pm Sunday at Township Commons Park (288 9th Ave.) in Oakland. Suggested $7 donation.
🥁 Take the family to Bay Area Kidfest for food vendors, carnival rides and a ceremony featuring the Concord Blue Devils C Drum and Bugle Corps.
10am-6pm Saturday and Sunday, and 10am-5pm Monday at Mount Diablo High School in Concord. Tickets are $9-$40.
🎨 Tour artists' studios in the Point Reyes Station and Inverness Park area. Exhibitions include sculptors, glass artists and more.
11am-5pm Saturday through Monday at multiple locations.
🎖️ Honor members of the U.S. military who were killed in service at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' annual Memorial Day commemoration ceremony. The program includes speakers, a 24-gun salute and musical performances.
10:30am-3pm Monday at the San Francisco National Cemetery in the Presidio.
🚢 Observe the holiday aboard the USS Hornet with a wreath-laying ceremony, color guard presentation and squadron flyover.
