FUBAR – Season 2 Episode 1 'Fullest House' Recap & Review
Fullest House
Episode 1 of FUBAR season 2 starts with Emma kicking ass in a paintballing competition. She makes short work of the group, although she tells Luke and the others that she's 'out for a run'. He's not stupid and knows what she's up to, and it's clear she has her sights set on bigger things at the CIA.
Now, the group are cooped up inside their safe house and have been for months. The CIA haven't given them the all-clear yet and naturally, tensions are high. Roo, Aldon and Donnie are trying to make the most of their situation, while Luke and Tally are at least doing a little better in their relationship.
Luke heads outside to see Dot, who mentions their next target – terrorist Dante Cress. he believes humanity in its current form needs a radical reset, beginning with a 90% reduction in population. They have nothing to go on here beyond the fact Cress is ready to put this theory into practice.
Dot hands over some intel, tasking Luke with decrypting the messages and figuring out what Cress is up to before it's too late. Dot is unfortunately shot dead not long after, thanks to a bunch of mercenaries showing up all guns blazing. They have a kill list detailing those from the safe house, and thankfully Emma shows with Roo and Aldon to stop the goons before it's too late.
Interim Director Reed shows at the Safe House and debriefs the group after, bringing up that the men killed in the square were from a New Zealand gang. He wants the thumb drive, which isn't going to happen, and he reluctantly leaves empty-handed.
With the Director gone, Luke and the others discover that Cress has wired quarter of a billion dollars to a former agent called Theodore Chips. The man is 'nuttier than squirrel shit' and he's been tasked with taking out the entire American grid. This would collapse the US economy and inevitably lead to the end of the world as we know it.
With the CIA in disarray for the time being, Tina continues to work as the mole with the Russians. Barry is obviously unaware of this, but he doesn't reveal anything to Tina just yet. Instead, he finds out that Chips is about to make his move at the Beaumont Lake Power Plant where he'll hit it with an EMP.
With time ticking and 4 hours to go until detonation, Barry and Tally hang back and play logistics while the rest of the group hit the power plant. They immediately come under fire from Chips' goons, while Emma finds the EMP.
Chips shows up and fights with Emma, but he's immediately enamoured by her. Unfortunately he manages to get away, and with the shutters down too, the only solution is to take the EMP out through the fans underwater. The bomb detonates underwater while Luke re-emerges safe and sound.
During the debrief back home, Luke reveals that the detonator has the signature wiring for someone called Bashir the Builder. He built the device used in the Partago assassination, which was linked to Dante Cress. This was back in 2012 and Chips was still in MI6 at the time, so it's all linked.
The next port of call is a trip to India where Luke believes Tina should tag along with Aldon to do recon work. Of course, they're unaware of Tina's double-agent antics.
To complicate matters, Luke and Emma head out where they're faced with a surprise guest from the past – Greta.
The Episode Review
So FUBAR is back and with a new case to whet the appetite, it didn't take long for the gang to get back in the field again. The ending of the first season certainly left the door open for more antics and it's good to see the same level of humour and wit operating as before.
Luke and Emma's dynamic is slightly different this time, with Luke more accepting of Emma's job, but there's still the little case of Tina's double-agent antics that have spilled over into this second season.
Quite what Greta wants and how she ties into the story is still to be decided, but with a whole season to get through, it'll be interesting to see where this one goes next.
