Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz's daughter blasts ‘Being the Ricardos' storyline as ‘a crock of poop'
Aaron Sorkin – you got a lot of explaining to do. Lucie Arnaz, the daughter of the late Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, is getting candid on the director's 2021 film 'Being the Ricardos.' The 73-year-old still has a bone to pick about some of the plotlines in the film despite her and her younger brother, Desi Arnaz Jr., serving as executive producers on the Prime Video project that starred Nicole Kidman as the iconic Lucille and Javier Bardem as Desi. Getty Images 'I tried to work on it and correct the incorrect parts, especially [my mother's] relationship with the writers,' Lucie said while at a screening of the 1993 special 'Lucy & Desi Home Movies' on Thursday. 'Totally wrong, right? She adored those people. They got along so well; none of that backstabbing, crazy, insulting stuff.' She said the storyline was 'such a crock of poop' and 'so wrong.' Advertisement Lucie had an problem with how the relationship between Vivian Vance and William Frawley, who played Ethel and Fred on 'I Love Lucy,' was portrayed. In her words, the tension was 'overly done.' 7 Lucie On The Lot: The Dr. Sam Fundraiser. Getty Images 'You can't talk to Aaron. He's Aaron Sorkin,' Lucie said about trying to speak with the director over inaccuracies. The actress noted that Sorkin told her he would be open to 'meaningful consultation' but ended up responding, ' 'Well, what do you know? You were 15 months old.'' Advertisement Keith Thibodeaux, who played Little Ricky, the son of Lucy and Arnez's Ricky Ricardo on 'I Love Lucy,' was also on the panel, telling the audience about Sorkin's movie, 'It's well done and all that, I just didn't get it.' 7 Lucie Arnaz, Nicole Kidman on set of 'Being the Ricardos.' ©Amazon/Courtesy Everett Collection The Post reached out to a rep for Sorkin for comment. 'Being the Ricardos' was well received by audiences and critics, earning three Academy Award nods, with both Kidman, 57, and Bardem, 56, garnering best actor nominations. 'Nicole did a spectacular job,' she gushed. 'What she did was astounding. She's got such poise and class.' 7 Aaron Sorkin and Nicole Kidman. Getty Images for Deadline 7 Lucille Ball and Desi Arnez. Getty Images However, at the same time, Lucie doubled down, stating that she saw 'certain scenes' of the film that she 'wished' Sorkin hadn't included. Lucie noted: 'I couldn't get my way and have them taken out, but they weren't accurate. And I thought, 'That shouldn't be in there, because that never happened. That's not true.'' 'And it's not just theatrical license, it just wasn't true,' she continued. 'And the day they shot the scene, the sprinklers went off on the set and destroyed the whole set.' 7 Lucille Ball and Desi Arnez holding their kids Desi Jr (left) and Lucie. Getty Images Advertisement That same year, Kidman told NPR, 'So there was the 'I Love Lucy' show, and I just thought, well, if I can create literally a carbon copy of her in the show where I look like her, I move like her, I sound like her, all of those things — and I really studied that for months, like watching it, rewinding, starting again, getting the timing, working on it, working on it, working on the sounds with my dialect coach. 'If that can be accurate, that then gives me the license to do Lucille Ball, as Aaron said, with the sexuality, with messy hair, with all the things that do not make you go, oh, right, that looks exactly like her. There's a feeling of her, but there's a human being here.' 7 Desi Arnaz Jr. and Lucie Arnaz accept the Legacy of Laughter Award for their mother, the late Lucille Ball during the 5th Annual TV Land Awards held at Barker Hangar on April 14, 2007. Getty Images Advertisement A year later, Bardem told People that he could feel Arnez's spirit on set. 'When you play a character like him, you are invoking his spirit and essence, and you have to be respectful with that,' he explained. 'Every time I would come back from the shoot, I would talk to him. I would look at the stars and let him know how the day went. And I would ask for his blessing and permission to go for the next day.'

1.2K turnout for Motorcycle Ride for Dad fundraiser
The 17th annual Manitoba Motorcycle Ride for Dad took place on May 31, 2025. Organizers said this year's event took in more $600,000 bringing the 17-year fundraising total to $5.7 million dollars with all proceeds staying in Manitoba. 'The great weather was a factor in another amazing turnout of Riders and spectators,' said MRFD co-chair and founding member, Moe Sabourin. 'Each year, the support from Manitobans is incredible. Thank you to all registered riders, pledge donors, sponsors, media partners and volunteers. Special thanks to our Regional Presenting Sponsor, the Winnipeg Police Credit Union.' Starting from Earls Polo Park, riders looped from Portage Avenue to Assiniboia Downs, to Selkirk, Gimli and then back again in a police escorted parade. As announced during the 2024 event, Minister for Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) Matt Wiebe was on hand to unveil the official Manitoba Motorcycle Ride for Dad licence plate. Helen's Pink Sky Foundation: Lemonade stands to raise money for Batten disease research
The Brief A nonprofit aims to raise money for research battling Batten disease. Helen's Pink Sky Foundation aims to help find a cure and extend Helen's life past the projected 10-12 years old. The foundation is inviting people to host a pink lemonade stand for their fundraiser from May 30-June 1. EDINA, Minn. (FOX 9) - A girl from Edina with a rare disease is celebrating her 4th birthday at the end of the month, and her family is asking for the community's help to fund research battling that disease. Big picture view With the love for the color pink in mind, Helen's parents started the Helen's Pink Sky Foundation in hopes of finding a cure and extending their daughter's life beyond the expected 10-12 years old. As part of their first fundraiser, they are inviting people far and wide to host pink lemonade stands and raise much-needed funds for critical research from May 30-June 1. The backstory When Helen was around 3-years-old, her parents started to notice she was behind on her speech development, and she was clumsier than before. Other than the slight developmental delay with speech and clumsiness, she was normal. She started speech therapy to help with her talking, and that first day of speech therapy was the first seizure she ever had. By the fall of 2024, Helen had two seizures and was diagnosed with Batten disease. According to her mom, Stephanie Born, the disease is so rare that most people have no idea what it is. The Born's realized none of the nurses Helen had at Mayo Clinic have ever treated a child with Batten disease, and she is the only child being treated with enzyme replacement therapy in Minnesota. Scientists and researchers have a hard time getting funding or grants that would help with their research because of how rare the disease is. There are also challenges to helping launch clinical trials for children with Batten disease, which is a barrier to funding FDA approvals for additional treatments and/or a cure. More information can be found on the foundation's website.
