Jurassic World Rebirth DLC gives you a reason to revisit Funko Fusion
Last year's not-Lego video game has launched new dinosaur themed DLC to promote the next Jurassic Park movie. When we were putting together our list of the best dinosaur video games, we did forget to acknowledge last year's Funko Fusion. While by no means a dinosaur game, Jurassic Park (or more specifically Jurassic World) is among thefranchises represented, with one of the playable characters even being a Dilophosaurus, Now, Funko Fusion has received two new DLC packs to tie in with the newest Jurassic Park movie – Jurassic World Rebirth – which arrives in cinemas on July 2. The packs add four new characters in total; starting with covert operative Zora Bennett and palaeontologist Dr Henry Loomis, who will be played by Scarlett Johannson and Justin Bailey, respectively, in the movie. More excitingly, the other two characters are actual dinosaurs: a shrunk down Spinosaurus (which makes its return in Rebirth, after its last appearance in Jurassic Park 3) and a velociraptor – an iconic staple of the Jurassic Park movies. If you want both dinosaurs, they don't come together so you will need to buy both DLC packs. They can be purchased separately for £4.49 each, a although we found a bundle on Steam and the Xbox store that includes both packs and saves you a bit of money. No doubt hoping that the DLC will attract new players, developer and publisher 10:10 Games is also bundling both packs with digital copies of Funko Fusion. The game itself is about £30 now, with the Jurassic World Rebirth bundle only raising the price to £34. If you're unfamiliar with Funko Fusion, it's ultimately the Funko Pop! equivalent of the Lego games by Traveller's Tales; it's even by some of the same developers, who left to form their own studio. More Trending Not only are there characters and levels from movies like Back To The Future and Jaws, but other gaming franchises as well, such as Mega Man and Five Nights At Freddy's. You can even play as KFC's Colonel Sanders. There's a mix of third person action, shooting, and puzzle solving, although strangely no splitscreen co-op on the same console. Online co-op has been added via an update though, so at least you can enjoy it with a friend now. Potentially with both of you playing as dinosaurs… Email gamecentral@ leave a comment below, follow us on Twitter. Layoffs at Funko Fusion developer 10:10 Games blamed on 'complete commercial and critical failure' of the game
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. 10:10 Games, a studio based in Warrington, England, has laid off staff, according to sources quoted Insider Gaming, due to its first release being a "complete commercial and critical failure". Funko Fusion was an attempt to catch the lightning in a bottle of the Lego games, only instead of the charm of Lego they were working with the dead-eyed horror of Funko Pops. Still, they had characters from popular properties like Team Fortress 2, Mega Man, Back to the Future, The Walking Dead, and Scott Pilgrim to put through themed smash-and-grab collectible hunt levels, and it's not like anyone can explain the success of Funko Pop. Maybe it could have worked? It didn't, however, ending up with an OpenCritic rating of 53, and sitting at a Mixed rating on Steam with 68% positive user reviews. Insider Gaming's sources said that performance of Funko Fusion was so poor that attempts to get funding for multiple follow-up projects failed, leading to staff being laid off because there "isn't enough work to give the whole team". Before the layoffs were announced, staff were encouraged to use up their vacation time, resulting in several of them discovering they had been let go while overseas on holiday. They were still expected to make it to consultation meetings, despite being in different time zones. "Management seemed very keen to wrap up the process quickly," a source told Insider Gaming, "and despite saying that they were fully open to suggestions and feedback, none of it has been taken on board".
