50 Cent files $1 million lawsuit against ex Shaniqua Tompkins
50 Cent has filed a lawsuit against his ex-partner Shaniqua Tompkins, claiming she violated a contract by sharing personal stories about him online. According to TMZ, the lawsuit was filed through 50 Cent's publishing company, G-Unit Books, and accuses Tompkins of breaching an agreement she signed in 2007, which allegedly gave 50 Cent exclusive rights to her life story. The complaint alleges that Tompkins 'irrevocably and exclusively' sold the rights to her life story for $80,000 with the promise of future royalties. The agreement, according to G-Unit Books, also barred her from publicly disclosing or monetizing any details related to her personal history or her past relationship with the rapper, whose legal name is Curtis Jackson. In 2023, Tompkins released a YouTube series titled Other Side of the Coin, where she claimed to tell 'the untold truth' about her role in building the G-Unit legacy. She asserted that Jackson would not be who he is today without her. G-Unit alleges that the video and related social media activity directly violated their contract and exploited Jackson's name and legacy. Jackson is seeking at least $1 million in damages and has also asked the court to block Tompkins from continuing to post similar content online. His attorney, Reena Jain, stated that Jackson had secured the rights to prevent Tompkins from profiting off his name or their shared history. Meanwhile, Tompkins has responded indirectly via Instagram, announcing a livestream scheduled for later this week, though she did not confirm whether she would address the lawsuit. Earlier this year, Tompkins also made allegations against Jackson related to a past domestic dispute involving his former partner, Daphne Joy.
