Andhra Government extends suspension of senior IPS officer P.V. Sunil Kumar on allegations of multiple foreign visits without permission
Andhra Pradesh Government has extended suspension period of P.V. Sunil Kumar, a senior IPS officer, the former Director General, Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Response and Fire Services, for four more months. K. Vijayanand, Chief Secretary, on Monday (April 28, 2025) in a No. 800 maintained that the suspension period of Sunil Kumar is extended up to August 28, 2025, under Rule 3(8)(a) of All India Services (AIS) Discipliner and Appeal (D&A) Rules, 1969.
Recently, the government also decided to initiate disciplinary proceedings against Sunil Kumar, who is facing charges related to misbehaviour and misconduct.
Earlier, Sunil Kumar was placed under suspension under Rule 3(1) of AIS (D&A) Rules, 1969, through on March 2, 2025, on the allegations of undertaking multiple foreign visits without permission from Government and for deviation from the travel plan approved by Government in certain foreign visits.
On the other hand, Government of India in Ministry of Home Affairs in the letter also confirmed the suspension of Sunil Kumar, informed the Chief Secretary.
Apart from that, the State Government also constituted a Review Committee for review of suspension cases on Sunil Kumar through G.O. Rt. No.1952, dated November 12, 2024. The Review Committee held a meeting on April 21, 2025 and reviewed the suspension of Sunil Kumar and has recommended for extension of suspension for a further period of 120 days. Based on the recommendations of the Review Committee, the State Government has initiated further action on Sunil Kumar.
