UAE announces Dh50,000 fine for pilgrims travelling to Hajj without permit
A fine of Dh50,000 will be imposed on any UAE citizen arriving in Saudi Arabia without a valid Hajj permit approved by the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat (GAIAZ).
The decision comes as part of the authority's commitment to providing a safe Hajj experience for all UAE pilgrims.
The authority affirmed that the performance of Hajj for all citizens, both male and female, is contingent upon the granting of an official Hajj permit issued by the authority, based on Cabinet decisions regarding the Hajj and Umrah System, which outlines all procedures governing the Hajj season in the country and ensures the distribution of opportunities among applicants in a transparent and clear manner through electronic screening programs.
The authority called on all UAE citizens and residents to adhere to the rules and regulations and not to risk their time and money on the wrong path. Anyone who acts outside this framework will bear the responsibility and consequences of their actions.
The authority explained that this measure aims to curb the phenomenon of those who arrive at the holy sites without obtaining a permit, and head to the country's pilgrims' headquarters, creating a state of overcrowding. This contributes to hindering the plans and arrangements of the UAE Hajj Affairs Office to provide services to the country's pilgrims in a manner that meets their aspirations and achieves complete happiness for the pilgrims.
