Partial solar eclipse delights skygazers across East Midlands
Skygazers across the East Midlands have been out in force looking up at a partial solar eclipse on Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire had some of the clearest skies - albeit with a few clouds - and many saw the phenomenon which reached its peak just after 11:00 had the chance to see the Moon cover about 30% to 50% of the Sun at its peak, with the best chance of clear skies in south-east England, East Anglia and the eclipse was not total anywhere in the world, but north-eastern regions of Canada saw up to 92% of the Sun covered.

Kent, Surrey, Sussex had some of the clearest skies in the UK to watch the phenomenon which reached its peak just after 11:00 had the chance to see the Moon cover about 30 to 50% of the Sun at its peak, with the best chance of clear skies in south-east England, East Anglia and the eclipse was not total anywhere in the world, but north-eastern regions of Canada saw up to 92% of the Sun covered.

Ramadan: Grand Iftar to be held inside Easton Jamia Mosque
Bristol's much-loved Grand Iftar will take place at its original home on St Mark's Road year, due to the overwhelming demand and unpredictable weather conditions, the event will be held inside the Easton Jamia Mosque at 18:00 from different faiths and communities are invited to join the Iftar, which is the meal Muslims eat at sunset during the holy month of Malik, chair of Easton Jamia Mosque, said having the event inside would allow people to experience the mosque's "beauty". "We have some beautiful mosques in this city," said Mr Malik."I think it's the perfect opportunity to bring people to the mosque to have a look at the beauty of the mosque inside, but also for people to learn about Islam."The Grand Iftar was launched on St Mark's Road in 2017 and has since become a flagship event in year, due to the overwhelming demand and unpredictable weather conditions, it will be held inside the mosque. Guests will break their fast together in a traditional manner with dates and water. Packaged food will then be distributed and, weather permitting, guests will be able to continue their Iftar meal in a communal setting on the pavement to the high level of interest, this year's event is limited to 500 attendees and all tickets have been future-proof the Grand Iftar, organisers are looking into plans to design a retractable shelter, allowing the event to be held in all weather.

People warned to avoid the area as fire breaks out in Kingston
More than 100 firefighters are making "steady process" tackling a fire in a disused building in the centre of Kingston, south-west Fire Brigade (LFB) said the blaze at the building in Richmond Road was first reported to them at 14:30 are being urged to avoid the area as road closures, including for the one-way system, are in Commander Will Thompson, who is at the scene, said: "The fire is producing smoke, so we advise local residents to keep their windows and doors closed." There are no reports of of the Brigade's 32-metre (105ft) turntable ladders are being used as observation towers, providing incident commanders with an aerial view to improve situational awareness and inform tactical Ambulance Service said it had sent an incident response officer and also asked the public to avoid the area. People who live near to the incident should stay indoors and keep windows closed, the service added.
