GATLINBURG, Tenn. (WATE) — A portion of the Foothills Parkway that runs through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is temporarily closed until crews inspect the road for possible damages after a 4.1 magnitude earthquake was confirmed near Greenback Saturday. At 11:50 a.m., the park shared on social media that Foothills Parkway West, which some may know as the 'new section' of Foothills Parkway, is temporarily closed. 4.1 magnitude earthquake confirmed in East Tennessee The roadway will be closed until it is inspected by the Federal Highway Administration because of potential damages from the earthquake, GSMNP said. Saturday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey confirmed that there had been a 4.1 magnitude earthquake approximately 12 miles southeast of Greenback and near the Tennessee-North Carolina state line at 9:04 a.m. LIST: Strongest recorded earthquakes in East Tennessee The earthquake was felt throughout East Tennessee and as far south as Atlanta, Georgia, USGS said. A spokesperson with the Tennessee Department of Transportation told 6 News that the agency is not aware of any damage to roadways or bridges in East Tennessee because of the earthquake, but crews will be inspecting roads and bridges in the coming days and weeks. KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The restaurant with the low grade just barely passed its health inspection. The grade was a 70 at Don Eduardo's Mexican Grill in Roane County. It's on Kentucky Street in Kingston. 70 is a passing score, as any grade of 69 and below is considered failing. Don Eduardo's Mexican Grill, 1320 N. Kentucky St, Kingston — Grade: 70, Follow-up: 91 To begin with, employee hygiene was a problem. The inspector wrote that a worker left the kitchen and went outside. When he returned, he forgot to wash his hands as he continued working in the kitchen. Had any employee tried to wash their hands, they couldn't, because there was no soap. When the inspector asked the manager about soap refills, they didn't have any. The dishwasher also wasn't working. As an alternative, the manager told the inspector that employees used the three-compartment sink to wash, rinse, and sanitize dishes and utensils. That might have been okay if there had been hot water, but the inspector found no hot water running at the grill. Something was wrong with the hot water heater. Finally, food temperatures were off. Cut lettuce, shredded cheese and sliced tomatoes were at 51 degrees. In addition, chicken was at 61, and it had been at that temperature overnight. 41 and below is the correct cool temperature. The food was thrown away. The health inspector returned to Don Eduardo's Mexican Grill in Kingston. Multiple violations that could potentially cause foodborne illness had been corrected. The new reinspected grade is a 91. Multiple critical violations were checked and corrected. The new re-inspected grade is an 87. CORBIN, Ky. (WATE) — The Kentucky State Police searching for a 16-year-old who disappeared from Whitley County. Layla C. Wells was last seen leaving her home in Corbin around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, police say. She is approximately 5'8″, and 130 pounds with short hair and blue eyes. Wells also had a small white purse with a gold chain strap. Police encouraged anyone with information to contact Kentucky State Police Post 11 in London at 606-878-6622 or 1-800-222-5555.
