The troop spent months preparing for this annual event, planning the raft, practicing its construction, and organising necessities, such food and safety equipment. Fifty teams attended the event, which had a team from each troop stay on the raft for 24 hours as they completed various challenges on the water. All this, whilst other Scouts, who assisted in raft construction, took part in events on shore.

The Emmarentia-based Scout troop came in 13th overall. They also placed fourth overall for team spirit and fifth for raft safety. Scouter Gabriella van Niekerk said this competition teaches Scouts about building rafts, the safety of creating a structure that will float for 24 hours, and engaging with your team. 'The best part of the competition is launching the rafts; it's always exciting. The Friday evening is also very fun. The Scouts build until late in the night, and it is interesting to watch the excitement, and the stress, of the Scouts as they build.'
The Scout troop still have more competitions to be excited for this year, such as a few hikes, camps, and other various adventures.
