Beyond The Gates Recap: Leslie Holds Court at Orphey Gene's

On today's Beyond The Gates recap: Martin and Smitty's Bedroom: Martin is having a nightmare about the yet to be known traumatic event. Before he wakes up, we hear someone saying, 'lets see the color of your money.' Nicole and Ted's Home: Dani arrives to see Nicole and convinces her to get out of the house. Fairmont Country Club: Eva and Ted meet up in the lobby. She says they might be much more comfortable at another place, but Ted says he is done hiding. He is a member of this country club and deserves to be there. As his daughter, she does too. Vanessa sits at a table and reads a text from Joey. She picks up her phone and calls Doug who is already at the tables. Vanessa was worried about him because he didn't come home the night before. Doug says he is with a friend and is sorry he worried her. Eva enters the dining room on Ted's arm as folks stare holes through them. She notes one particular woman. Ted says that is Anastasia, the town gossip. He says to pay her and everyone no mind as they all need to get used to seeing them together. Joey's Gambling Pit: Joey arrives and runs into Doug. He says Doug owes him a lot of money and just continues to wrack up debt. Joey suggests Doug talk to Vanessa. Doug says he isn't telling Vanessa anything as it's all his problem. Joey thinks Vanessa is understanding and Doug should trust her. He says he has a plan and threatens to break Doug's other hand if he doesn't keep his mouth shut. Joey tells Doug that Vanessa's real-estate firm could be very lucrative for him. Doug realizes he wants to launder money through the firm but says Vanessa would never agree to it. Joey says Vanessa never needs to know anything. If they can strike a deal, his debt will be forgiven. Orphey Gene's: Leslie walks in and approaches Jan, but she knows everything. She says everything they ever knew about Leslie is a lie. She and Mona feel used as Leslie was simply trying to get information from them about the Duprees. She can't imagine how she lied about her daughter and manipulated her to do her dirty work. Leslie wants Jan to hear her side of the story. She says Ted told her she loved her but when he found out she was pregnant he dumped her in a cruel way (who is that man at the window?). He wanted her to get rid of her baby and wasn't willing to do so. Leslie notes how Jan had Ashley at a young age and it was probably difficult. Jan agrees and Leslie continues saying they both made the choice to be mothers despite what folks thought. Jan is in tears when she says Leslie acts out of hate instead of love and is not the type of person she wants as a friend. Just then, Vernon walks in and joins Martin. Martin tells Vernon his nightmares are getting worse and now he agrees he shouldn't run for President. Martin says it's not so much about the dreams but his parents' marriage falling apart. The scrutiny coming with a presidential run would be harsh. Martin has decided family has to come first. He can't risk his secret being exposed in the same way as his father's was. Vernon asks about the nightmares and Martin says he sees flashes. Last night, it got more specific and he heard a voice saying, 'let's see what color's your money.' Vernon asks how he feels when he wakes up. Martin says he feels scared, anxious and guilty. He doesn't think his mother could take it if the truth came out. Eva walks in and sits next to Leslie. She says she her mother was right as she doesn't belong in the Dupree world. Eva says she misses when it was just the two of them against the world. Leslie agrees and Eva tries to explain her behavior the night of the anniversary party. Vernon and Martin (and the whole place) listen in as Leslie yells at Eva reminding all the things Ted did when she was pregnant. She says Ted destroyed her life. Eva doesn't see the situation the same way and believes her mother was manipulating her. Leslie does everything but backhand Eva saying she simply expected her daughter to help and protect her. Eva says she made choices but it doesn't mean she doesn't love her mother. She begs Leslie to let her come home. Leslie says there is no coming back from Eva's betrayal. She also notes Daddy Teddy got her a room at the hotel and is going to hook her up with an apartment. She tells her to enjoy living life with the parent she chose. Leslie tells Eva not to give her another thought. With that, she moves to the bar across from Jan. Martin swoops in and tells Eva what Leslie did was way harsh. He thinks parents owe their children support and unconditional love and realizes he has taken his own parents for granted. Eva breaks into tears and says she can't imagine how amazing it was to grow up with Ted and Nicole as parents. Martin can't deny what Eva did but says she deserved better than the woman who raised her. With that, Eva grabs her purse and walks out. Vernon walks over and tells Leslie he will never forgive what she did to his family. For now, he pities her because she's rejecting the one person who still loves her. Once she realizes the error of her ways, it will be too late. With that, he exits. Ashley and Derek's Apartment: Thinks are awkward between the two. They go back and forth about breakfast and showering. He says he will be going off with the boys after work. Ashley wonders if he wants to hang out with the guys because they didn't 'connect' the night before. They are both frustrated things seem to be different since they moved in together. Ashley gets a text from her mother and Derek heads off to take a shower. Jan tells her daughter that Leslie was responsible for everything that went down at Nicole's party. She shifts topics and asks how things are going with Derek. Ashley says she's not used to living with anyone besides her mother. Jan thinks she and Derek are going to be just fine and ends the call. Derek emerges from the shower and says what didn't happen the night before means nothing. They decide to give it another try and hit the sheets. Fairmont Country Club: Nicole and Dani arrive. Dani gives her sister a pep talk before they walk in. Ted tells Eva he called an upscale salon called Serenity Beauty and Hair and rented one of their stations for her. Eva thanks him but says she's really enjoyed being a personal assistant. Ted gets it but thinks she won't have much luck based on recent events. Just then, Nicole and Dani walk in. The entire club turns as Dani and Nicole stare down Ted and Eva. Ted gets up and tells Nicole how wonderful she looks. Just then, Vanessa walks up, tells Nicole she has tea to spill and drags her to her table, while Dani goes after Ted. Dani can't believe Ted's audacity. He says it never occurred to him Nicole would be at the club. He says he took Dani's advice and manned up by getting to know his daughter. Dani leans over and tells Eva she can be Ted's guest but will never mean anything to the Duprees. Vanessa tells Nicole she just wanted to get her away from Ted and Eva. Nicole says she knows she should want Ted to build a relationship with his daughter but seeing them together is heartbreaking. Nicole asks for a distraction and Vanessa tells her about Doug and how worried she is about his emotional state. Dani joins Vanessa and Nicole and says she gave Ted and Eva the business. Just then, Anastasia walks up saying she heard what happened at the anniversary party as it is THE hot topic all around the club. She says the Dupree women really know how to pick men before walking away. Anastasia walks over to Ted and Eva and introduces herself. She congratulates Eva on her Cinderella story before cutting her down for her 'church lady' clothes. With that, she walks away. Ted tries to comfort Eva but she says she doesn't belong and walks away. Nicole thanks Dani and Vanessa for supporting her and says she feels a bit better. Dani says she told her so which makes everyone giggle (a mention of Andre knowing the truth a few weeks prior). Just then, Ted walks up with something to say to Nicole. He says he can't control the past but can the future. Ted says Nicole needs to know she will be seeing him at work, the hospital and with the children. He wants to prove to everyone he can right the wrong and has learned from everything. Next year, they will be celebrating together and in love. With that, he exits. Previous Beyond The Gates Recap: Endings Ashley and Derek are enjoying love in the afternoon. Jan can't believe how Leslie could turn her back on her own daughter. Leslie loses it and tells Jan to STOP HER BITCHING. She tells the ENTIRE restaurant she has a few surprises left up her sleeve, snaps in Jan's face and makes her exit. Martin knows ending his presidential aspirations was a good idea. With that, he and his grandfather exit. As they leave, the suspicious man at the window follows. Doug refuses to help Joey launder money through his wife's company. Joey says he is calling in his debt and is not allowed to play another hand until he settles up. He has one week to pay back the money before things get ugly. Nicole can't believe Ted thinks they will be back together the next year. Vanessa wonders if there is hope but Nicole says maybe she won't want him. Nicole is kind of tickled she ran into Ted, Eva and the town gossip without losing her s***. Eva arrives back at the club; thankful Ted is still there. She explains seeing her mother as she wanted to feel comfortable in a world where she fit. Unfortunately, Leslie wants nothing to do with her. She returned to the country club because Ted is willing to accept her. He looks at Eva and takes her hand just as Nicole, Dani and Vanessa arrive on the scene. Keep checking back for the latest Beyond The Gates recaps!
