Garda rescues border collie from water in Cork
Gardaí are appealing for help in getting a border collie back to its owner after they were rescued from water in Cork.
At around 5:30am on Friday morning, Garda Ruairc Courtney from Carrigaline Garda Station sprang into action after a call about a dog stranded at Monkstown Pier who was 'quite soaked, stuck in seaweed and in distress'.
The officer quickly hopped into the water to get to the dog and bring him to safety before the tide came back in.
Now that the dog is safe and sound in Togher Garda Station, Gardaí would like to try to get him back home.
A Garda spokesperson said: 'About 5:30am this morning, Garda Ruairc Courtney responded to a call made to Carrigaline Garda Station by a member of the public about a dog stranded at Monkstown Pier.
'The dog was quite soaked, stuck in seaweed and in distress. When he arrived, Garda Courtney hopped into the water to get to the dog and bring him to safety before the tide came back in.
'This fine Border Collie is with us at Togher Garda Station where he's happy out but we'd like to get him back home to his owners. Is he yours or look familiar? Please call us 021 494 7120.'
