ANI 09 Jun 2025, 14:43 GMT+10 New Delhi [India], June 9 (ANI): The Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. (GRSE) last week signed two strategic Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) in Denmark and between GRSE and Berg Propulsion, a global leader in the development, manufacturing, and supply of marine propulsion systems, at Berg Propulsion's head office in Hono, Sweden, was signed on June 05. This MoU aims to leverage the combined capabilities and technical expertise of both organisations towards the manufacture of propulsion-related equipment and systems, with a specific focus on ongoing and future governmental the other hand, GRSE signed an MoU with Denmark's SunStone, a leading provider of expedition cruise vessels. This MoU highlights the intent for future collaboration in the area of expedition cruise vessels and was signed in Copenhagen.'These strategic engagements are in line with GRSE's vision to expand its capabilities and strengthen its role in the global maritime sector through meaningful international collaborations,' GRSE said on a social media platform called 'X'.Recently, a Memorandum of Intent (MOI) was signed by Carsten Rehder Schiffsmakler und Rehder GmbH & Co. KG, Germany and Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE) for the construction of an additional 4 numbers of 7,500 DWT multi-purpose vessels. These vessels will have hybrid propulsion and will adhere to the latest cybersecurity norms. This is in addition to an existing order of 8 such vessels currently being constructed at GRSE's Kolkata also signed MoUs with Aries Marine LLC from the UAE on collaboration on 'Construction of Offshore platforms and Vessels' and with a Global Engine March, keeping with its commitment to deliver top-quality warships to the Navy and Coast Guard, Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Ltd, successfully completed the Contractor Sea Trials (CSTs) of two platforms. GRSE and M/s SunStone, Denmark, a leading provider of expedition cruise vessels, inked a Memorandum of Understanding on June 6, 2025. This Memorandum of Understanding lays the groundwork for upcoming cooperation in the field of expedition cruise ships. Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers or GRSE other MOUs Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers or GRSE's official delegation visit to Norway also led the company signing various Memorandum of Intent (MoI) and Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) GRSE signed MoI with M/s Carsten Rehder Schiffsmakler and Reederei GmbH & Co. KG, Germany for the construction of four (04) follow-on 7,500 DWT Multi-Purpose Vessels. The firm contract for the vessels is expected to be finalized by 31 Aug 2025. Besides GRSE also signed a MoU with M/s Aries Marine, a Dubai based, established and independent engineering and design firm for offshore Platform and vessel design. This MoU aims to facilitate collaboration on identifying and developing offshore orders for platforms designed by Aries and built by GRSE. GRSE also signed MoU with a Global Engine Manufacturer on the same day. Indian maritime companies signed shipbuilding and technology collaboration agreements at the Nor-Shipping conference in Oslo, as part of a government-led push to boost global partnerships in the sector, according to an official statement released on Thursday. One of the key agreements includes a memorandum of intent signed between Germany's Carsten Rehder Schiffsmakler und Rehder GmbH & Co KG and Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE) for the construction of four multi-purpose vessels. The ships will feature hybrid propulsion systems and comply with advanced cybersecurity standards, the statement said, as reported PTI. In a separate development, Larsen & Toubro (L&T) signed a wide-ranging partnership with Norway's DNV. The collaboration covers shipbuilding, offshore and maritime projects, expansion of port infrastructure, energy systems, industrial and smart infrastructure, ESG compliance, cybersecurity, risk services and digital platforms. The deals were signed during the official visit of Union minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal to the Norway pavilion. Since June 2, Sonowal has been on a five-day trip to Norway and Denmark, leading a business delegation of Indian maritime firms. Shares of Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd surged over 9% in early trading on Wednesday, reaching a new 52-week high of ₹3,465.50 on the NSE. As of 9:30 AM, the shares were trading 10% higher at Rs 3,465.50. The stock opened at ₹3,186.10 and touched an intraday low at the same level before climbing steadily. The day's high of ₹3,465.50 marks the highest point for the stock in the past year, surpassing its previous 52-week high. The 52-week low stands at ₹1,148.10. In the meantime, Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) has taken a significant step toward advancing India's shipbuilding capabilities by signing a deal with Kongsberg, Norway, to build the country's first Polar Research Vessel (PRV). The agreement was signed in Oslo in the presence of Sarbananda Sonowal, Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways. The PRV will be used by the National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR) for scientific exploration in the polar and southern ocean regions. This collaboration will provide GRSE with valuable design expertise from Kongsberg, helping India develop this specialized vessel domestically. GRSE, known for its experience in building complex marine platforms such as warships and research vessels, will construct the PRV at its Kolkata shipyard. This project supports the government's Make In India initiative by promoting indigenous manufacturing in the strategic shipbuilding sector. During his visit, Minister Sonowal also engaged with the Norwegian Shipowners Association to explore opportunities for maritime investments. He represented India at a high-level ministerial meeting on the 'Role of Shipping in Shaping the Future,' highlighting the country's growing focus on enhancing its maritime infrastructure and capabilities.
