Up to 1K people without power after pole in Kanab catches fire

KANAB, Utah () — Up to 1,000 people lost power in Kanab on Thursday after a pole caught fire, according to officials. The power was expected to be out for several hours.
'Power is out in Valley and North of Kanab due to a fire in the Kanab Creek Ranchos,' Garkane Energy Cooperative Thursday. 'Crews are on site to [assess] the situation.'
Garkane Energy Cooperative estimated that 500 to 1,000 customers were without power because of the outage.
Kanab City on Thursday afternoon to ask people to avoid the area of Kanab Creek Drive near the creek as fire crews responded to a 'wildland fire.'
