Newport limousine driver banned after serious Cardiff crash

Gary Allen, 63, from Newport pleaded guilty to causing serious injury to Keith Freemanto Keith Freeman by careless driving on Dumfries Place in Cardiff. The incident took place last summer at around 5.05pm on the afternoon of Saturday, August 10, 2024. At the time of the crash, South Wales Police appealed for witnesses to the crash to come forward. A spokesperson said: "At approximately 5.05pm on Saturday, August 10, a road traffic collision involving a limousine and a pedestrian occurred on Dumfries Place, Cardiff. "The pedestrian, a 69-year-old man, was crossing the carriageway when he was struck by the black-and-white Ford limousine, which was travelling in the direction of the city centre. "The man suffered significant injuries and was conveyed to hospital.' Allen, of The Moorings, Newport was banned from driving for 12 months after he appeared for sentence at Cardiff Magistrates' Court. He must pay £1,429 in a fine, costs and a surcharge. The defendant was driving a Ford Excursion limousine.

MUSCOGEE COUNTY, Ga. () — Nearly two hundred years after the Muscogee Nation was forced to move from the Chattahoochee Valley to Oklahoma on the Trail of Tears, they were welcomed back to their homelands in Muscogee County Thursday morning. An official delegation from the Muscogee Nation in Oklahoma traveled to Columbus as part of the 'Muscogee Homecoming' that will celebrate the region's original citizens. Those representing the nation introduced themselves in their native language during their remarks. Click the video player below to hear from RaeLynn Butler, Secretary of Culture and Humanities Mayor Pro-Tem Gary Allen presented a land acknowledgement that details the partnership the city of Columbus will have with the Muscogee Creek People. This acknowledgement includes the flying of the Muscogee Creek Nation flag in the Muscogee County Courthouse and other suitable locations. A sauna and steam room will not form part of a new leisure centre due to fears over limited demand and high provisional Borough Council said choosing to add these facilities to the Highlight facility, currently being built near the Marina, "would incur high costs, delay the project, and risk the project overall".A meeting heard that a petition requesting a sauna had garnered large Gary Allen said residents and users were consulted "multiple times" before plans were drawn up, but added the council was happy to discuss the issue further. In the meeting, it was asked why the sauna and steam room located at Mill House Leisure Centre "never reopened" following its closure during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Local Democracy Reporting Service response, it was said the existing facilities at Mill House had to be "reopened cautiously" post 2021 and "were in a poor condition and did not meet quality standards, leading to frequent complaints".It was also claimed the income generated was "minimal" and there were "high maintenance costs".Mr Allen said it was "imperative" to focus on facilities that catered for families and generated income.
