She was eventually found at a Nebraska gas station on her 17th birthday last month. What they're saying Day is charged with two counts of abducting a child and two counts of child enticement. "There are some dots that need to be connected," said Judge Joseph Sciascia. A Beaver Dam police detective assigned to the case testified during Thursday's hearing. Daniel Kuhnz. Prosecutors said Day was already under investigation for crimes against children at the time of the kidnapping. Day's attorney argued the state did not establish probable cause for charges against him. "Two charges that Mr. Day is charged with here require more than just transporting someone without the consent of their parent," said Attorney Jacob Van Kerkvoorde. The judge ultimately sided with the state, finding probable cause. Day was then bound over for trial. What's next Day is due back in court for an arraignment in June. Day, who faces two felony charges of child abduction and two felony charges of child enticement, appeared in court in custody in Dodge County, just over Mishicot High School teacher arrested for alleged sexual assault offenses involving students Day is charged with the abduction of 17-year-old Sophia Franklin of Beaver Dam, who is pregnant with Day's child. "They observed an adult male and juvenile female, and they just thought it was suspicious – that maybe they just didn't go together," said Lt. Dennis Svoboda with the Sarpy County Sheriff's Office. After talking with the teen, a 911 caller went online and saw an Amber Alert for her, along with a photo of the man investigators said she was with. Dig deeper Police said Day was seen on surveillance near the teen's home in February. His booking photo looks a lot different from the photos shared in police social media posts and prior Amber Alerts. "He definitely was trying to elude investigation and subsequent arrest, which makes him even more problematic," said Stan Stojkovic, professor emeritus of criminology at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. (WFRV) – The AMBER Alert for missing Wisconsin 16-year-old Sophia Franklin, who is reportedly pregnant, has now been extended to Missouri, a week after the Alert was . According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, Franklin and the father of her unborn child, 40-year-old Gary Day, might be traveling through Missouri to an unknown location in Arkansas. Franklin was last seen at her home on February 2 at 9 p.m. Day was last seen at her residence on February 3 at 7:48 a.m. Fond du Lac man convicted of reckless homicide for role in 2022 overdose death There is a no-contact order for both of them. The vehicle in the AMBER Alert is a 2014 Black Buick LaCrosse reportedly using multiple license plates, including Arkansas BBR 20L, and was last reported to be using Pennsylvania license plate KGW5186. Sophia is white and listed at 5-foot-9 and 186 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. Gary Day is 5-foot-7 at 167 pounds with balding blonde hair and green eyes.
