Frances Fitzgerald joins Teneo as senior adviser

Teneo, is a global CEO advisory firm whose work includes corporate PR and lobbying and financial advisory. Ms Fitzgerald will join its Teneo Ireland Advisory Board, chaired by businessman Gary McGann and which already includes rugby legend Brian O'Driscoll. In her new role, Ms Fitzgerald will help advise Teneo clients and support the growth of the firm's business in Ireland and Europe, the firm said. During her political career, Ms Fitzgerald served as tánaiste from 2016 to 2017 and between 2011 and 2017 she held roles including justice and equality minister, children and youth affairs minister, and business, enterprise and innovation minister. She was a member of the European Parliament from 2019 until last year. CEO of Teneo Ireland, Michael O'Keeffe, said she brings unmatched experience and insight into Irish public life to her new role. 'Her leadership at the highest levels of government and her deep understanding of policymaking – both nationally and in Europe – make her an invaluable addition to our advisory team. We are delighted to welcome her to Teneo, under the stewardship of global CEO Paul Keary, and to the Teneo Ireland Advisory Board. Ms Fitzgerald said Teneo plays a key role in advising many of Ireland's most prominent organisations. 'I'm particularly pleased to be joining the Teneo Ireland Advisory Board, where I look forward to working alongside an exceptional group of advisers. Having served in Cabinet during a period of major social and economic transformation, I hope to bring that experience to bear in helping leaders navigate the opportunities and challenges ahead,' she said. The appointment is the latest is a succession of senior figures who have served in Fine Gael governments over the past decade to private sector roles. Enda Kenny joined the board of PR and lobbying firm Heneghan in 2021. Earlier this year former tánaiste Simon Coveney was appointed as a consultant to EY Ireland's geopolitical strategy unit.
