Warriors Make Surprise Announcement on Moses Moody After Playoff Struggles
Turns out that thumb injuries were a popular ailment among players for the Warriors in 2024-25. Stephen Curry had the best-known of thumb problems on the team, suffering a jam on his right thumb in January that affected him for the rest of the season, even into the playoffs. Gary Payton II also had a thumb injury for a big chunk of the late season, suffering a partial tear in a ligament in his left thumb on March 27, an injury he, too, dealt with during the playoffs. Advertisement Now, it turns out, guard Moses Moody was also working through a thumb problem before the Warriors were eliminated from the playoffs by the Timberwolves in the conference semifinals last week. The team announced that Moody had surgery to fix the problem. Golden State Warriors guard Moses Moody (4) Mandatory Credit: Cary Edmondson-Imagn Images As the team wrote on its X account: "Moses Moody underwent successful surgery yesterday in Los Angeles to repair a torn Ulnar Collateral ligament (UCL) in his right thumb. He is expected to make a full recovery and be ready for the start of training camp." Moody averaged a career-high 9.8 points per game this year for the Warriors, and shot 37.4% on 1.7 attempts from the 3-point line, both of which were also career highs. Advertisement He struggled in the postseason, though, and saw his role reduced, as he shot only 35.0% from the field and 33.3% from the 3-point line. His minutes dropped from 22.3 to 16.1 per game. Moody has never quite lived up to the hopes the Warriors had for him, but has been a useful role player in his four NBA seasons. He will begin a three-year, $37.5 million contract extension next season. Warriors Make Surprise Announcement on Moses Moody After Playoff Struggles first appeared on Athlon Sports on May 22, 2025

Anthony Edwards Hilariously Calls Out Warriors' Plan To Get 'Wardell' Back For Game 6
Anthony Edwards has never lacked confidence or comedic timing, and during Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals, he displayed both in a moment that quickly went viral. Caught on the mic in a courtside exchange with Golden State Warriors guard Gary Payton II, Edwards perfectly captured the Warriors' desperation to stay alive just long enough for their franchise superstar to return. Anthony Edwards: "Y'all trynna get to Game 6… and get Wardell back." Advertisement Gary Payton II: "That is the plan." Anthony Edwards: "I already know." The brief but hilarious exchange gave fans a peek into the mind games being played amid the high-stakes playoff chess match between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors. Edwards wasn't just teasing, he was calling out a strategy that's no secret to anyone following the series. With Stephen Curry sidelined by a Grade 1 hamstring strain, the Warriors have had to rely on Jimmy Butler, Jonathan Kuminga, and Buddy Hield to carry the scoring load in hopes of stretching the series long enough for Curry's return in a potential Game 6. Advertisement But Anthony Edwards might not let it get that far. In Game 3, the Timberwolves star delivered yet another electric performance, scoring 36 points on 13-of-28 shooting along with four rebounds and four assists. He outdueled Butler and took over late in the fourth quarter, scoring 13 of his points in the final frame as Minnesota surged ahead for a 102-97 win and a 2-1 series lead. His brilliance has not only tilted the series in Minnesota's favor, but it's exposed just how incomplete the Warriors are without Steph. What makes Edwards' jab sting even more is how much truth there is behind it. According to reports, Curry's hamstring will keep him out through at least Game 5, with a return only possible if the Warriors extend the series. Golden State is desperately clinging to hope, but as Edwards' on-court dominance grows, so does the likelihood of an early exit. Advertisement Even with strong efforts from Butler (33 points) and Kuminga (30 points), the Warriors couldn't break through Minnesota's defense or find a consistent offensive rhythm. Their ball movement stagnated, and their rebounding woes continued as Rudy Gobert and Julius Randle dominated the paint. It's clear the Warriors are missing the gravity, spacing, and leadership that Curry provides. And Edwards knows it. While some stars might play coy or avoid stoking the fire, Edwards leans in. His playful trash talk is just another example of why he's becoming one of the most entertaining and feared faces of the new NBA generation. 'Wardell' might still return, but if Edwards has his way, the series could be over before that happens. Game 4 looms large, and Minnesota now holds the momentum, the swagger, and thanks to Edwards' mic'd-up moment, a bit of the comedy spotlight too. Ant acknowledges Warriors' ‘plan' for Steph's Game 6 return
Ant acknowledges Warriors' 'plan' for Steph's Game 6 return originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area It's no secret the Warriors hope to extend their Western Conference semifinals series against the Minnesota Timberwolves to Game 6. Advertisement Why? Because that would give injured superstar Steph Curry (left hamstring strain) a chance to return and potentially help Golden State win the series and advance to the next round. Warriors guard Gary Payton II, who was mic'd up during Golden State's 102-97 loss to Minnesota in Game 3 on Saturday at Chase Center, acknowledged as much while being playfully taunted by Timberwolves' superstar guard Anthony Edwards. 'Y'all trying to get to a Game 6, get Wardell (Curry) back,' Edwards told Payton. 'That is the plan,' Payton responded with a smile. Curry suffered his Grade 1 left hamstring strain in the second quarter of the Warriors' Game 1 win on Tuesday at Target Center. Golden State put out an official update on Wednesday, stating Curry will be re-evaluated in one week (May 14) and would miss Games 2, 3 and 4 before Game 5 on Wednesday in Minnesota. Advertisement However, ESPN's Shams Charania stated Friday on 'The Pat McAfee Show' that his understanding is that Curry probably will not return until Game 6 at the earliest. That would be 12 days from the time Curry initially sustained the injury, which is slightly longer than the estimate Stanford Medicine's Marc Safran, M.D. gave to NBC Sports Bay Area in a recent interview.
