Alamar Biosciences, Alzheimer's Disease Data Initiative, and Gates Ventures Unite in Global Partnership to Advance Translational Research in Alzheimer's Disease.

Multi-center project will profile over 40,000 samples using ultra-sensitive NULISA™ technology. FREMONT, Calif., June 10, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Alamar Biosciences, a company powering precision proteomics to enable the earliest detection of disease, the Alzheimer's Disease Data Initiative and Gates Ventures today announced a strategic partnership with the goal to generate one of the largest proteomic datasets linked to clinical outcomes in Alzheimer's Disease (AD). This international project will profile over 40,000 plasma samples representing AD and related dementias using Alamar's ultra-sensitive NULISA™ technology, with the goal of accelerating biomarker discovery and driving new insights into the progression and treatment of AD. "This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to transform the landscape of Alzheimer's research through data, technology, and global partnerships," said Yuling Luo, PhD, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Alamar Biosciences. "By combining our NULISA platform with Alzheimer's Disease Data Initiative's infrastructure and Gates Venture's mission-driven investment, we aim to catalyze a new era of biomarker-driven discovery and therapeutic development." As part of the initiative, Alamar's NULISAseq™ CNS Disease Panel 120 and Inflammation Panel 250 will be implemented at research centers in the United States, Sweden, United Kingdom, and India. These panels deliver unparalleled sensitivity and specificity, enabling the accurate measurement of hundreds of brain- and immune-related proteins from just a small volume of blood or cerebrospinal fluid. A key feature of the CNS panel is its unique ability to distinguish brain-derived phosphorylated tau from total phosphorylated tau in blood—a critical advancement for the development of community-based screening programs. The resulting proteomic data will be integrated with clinical and longitudinal outcome measures and shared with the global research community by leveraging the Global Neurodegeneration Proteomics Consortium 's (GNPC) secure data-sharing processes. "Understanding the biological underpinnings of Alzheimer's Disease is essential for developing effective treatments," said Niranjan Bose, Managing Director of Health & Life Sciences at Gates Ventures and interim Executive Director of the Alzheimer's Disease Data Initiative. "This initiative will provide a rich resource to researchers worldwide and help overcome long-standing barriers in early detection and stratified interventions." This initiative represents a major step forward in building a comprehensive, clinically annotated Alzheimer's plasma proteome atlas, with the potential to unlock new biomarkers for diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutic response. This strategic collaboration complements the efforts of the GNPC, which has brought together top dementia researchers and datasets to collaborate and create one of the largest disease-specific proteomics datasets ever assembled. The project also emphasizes inclusivity by incorporating diverse cohorts from multiple geographic and ethnic populations. About the Alzheimer's Disease Data Initiative The Alzheimer's Disease Data Initiative is a coalition of leading academic, advocacy, government, industry, and philanthropy organizations that recognizes the need for dementia researchers to find easier ways to share data, analytical tools, and scientific findings. These partners are working together to accelerate progress towards new diagnostics, treatments, and cures for Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. Learn more about the Alzheimer's Disease Data Initiative at About Alamar Biosciences, Inc. Alamar Biosciences is a privately held life sciences company with a mission to power precision proteomics to enable the earliest detection of disease. The company's proprietary NULISA Platform along with the ARGO™ HT System work seamlessly with the latest advances in genomics to achieve single digit attomolar detection sensitivity, greatly surpassing the most sensitive protein detection technology on the market today. Meghan Markle talks 'getting her hands dirty' as she braces for new family upset

The Duchess of Sussex has released the seventh episode in her Confessions of a Female Founder podcast series - and revealed how university helped her prepare for running a business Meghan Markle has spoken about 'getting her hands dirty' while building up a brand in the latest episode of her podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder. The Duchess sat down for a conversation with Heather Hasson, the founder of FIGS - a billion-dollar company which revolutionised the medical apparel industry. The two women discussed the challenges of growing a business, and the need to get involved in every aspect in order to succeed. "It can get messy and the best founders are not afraid to get their hands dirty," Meghan said. ‌ She further spoke about what she had learned during her days at Northwestern University - and how the experience prepared her to be a future founder. ‌ "I was a theater major, and part of the program was that you couldn't just do the acting. You had to do soup-to-nuts, every part of what a production would entail, which I actually think is incredible training for when you're running a team because you appreciate what the sound person does and what the lighting person does," the Duchess said. "Wardrobe department and sewing were part of it too, so I am comfortable with a sewing machine," she added, bringing the discussion back to Hasson's scrubs business. It comes after it was revealed that Meghan and husband Harry have made some major changes amongst their staff, with the Duchess appointing her first chief of staff - Sarah Fosmo, who will be her most senior adviser as she continues a new shift in career. Sarah, 45, has an impressive CV; she previously worked for Gates Ventures, Bill Gates ' private office, in executive administration for six years. Before that, she spent seven years working for Tony Robbins, an American motivational speaker, as a senior executive assistant. Prince Harry also has a new chief of staff after his last pick, Josh Kettler, left after his three-month trial period. Rather than bringing in a new replacement, one of Harry's most senior members of staff, Lianne Cashin, a former executive assistant and Archewell's head of operations, has been promoted to a 'senior consultant'. She will be responsible for guiding the Duke through the next stage of his post-royal career. According to the Telegraph, she will also have played a pivotal role in arranging Harry's BBC interview last week, in which he spoke candidly about the ongoing rift with his father King Charles and complained of an "establishment stitch-up" after losing his legal appeal against the Government over security provision. ‌ A source told the publication: "Sarah and Lianne exemplify the strength and vision driving the Duke and Duchess forward." But while things are moving forward for Meghan professionally, she is set for another bombshell in her personal life. Her half-brother, Thomas Markle Jnr, has confirmed that he is writing a tell-all book about the Duchess and her childhood. Speaking from the Philippines, where he has relocated with their father, Thomas Markle Snr, he vowed that the book is "gonna be good." In an interview with the Mirror, Thomas said: "When my book is finished, ooh it'll be swooped up real quick cause it's getting there. I'm working on it. It's coming out. It's gonna be good." He continued: "I really want to spin off the book, then when the book gets read, the documentary will follow. I'm not a greedy person, it's not about the money - it's about the principle." However, he went on to add: "It would be nice to have a nice little cushion from selling a book."

Prince Harry and Meghan have have hired two new senior advisers as they continue to establish their careers away from royal life, with one of them having a close connection to Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates. Meghan Markle has appointed her first chief of staff, as the Duchess and Prince Harry's office are set to undergo a major shake-up. It has been announced that Sarah Fosmo will be her most senior advisor amid her career. Sarah, 45, boasts an impressive CV having previous worked for Gates Ventures, Bill Gates' private office, in executive administration for six years. She also spent seven years working for American motivational speaker Tony Robbins, as a senior executive assistant prior. ‌ It comes amid Meghan making waves in her career, following the launch of her Netflix show and podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, as well as the rebrand of her lifestyle company, As Ever. Sarah will now be on hand to oversee all these projects. ‌ Prince Harry has also recently promoted one of his most senior members of staff, Lianne Cashin, former executive assistant and Archewell's head of operations, who has been promoted to a 'senior consultant' after Josh Kettler left, as reported by the Mirror. Lianne will be responsible for navigating Harry through his career, after him and Meghan left the UK and royal roles behind in 2020. According to the Telegraph, she will also have played a pivotal role in arranging Harry's BBC interview last week, in which he spoke candidly about the ongoing rift with his father King Charles and complained of an "establishment stitch-up" after losing his legal appeal against the Government over security provision. A source told the publication: "Sarah and Lianne exemplify the strength and vision driving the Duke and Duchess forward." The insider further said that Harry and Meghan consider themselves fortunate to have two "exceptional leaders" in Ms Fosmo and Ms Cashin, adding: "Sarah, our proud senior hire as chief of staff for the Duchess of Sussex, brings a wealth of experience perfectly suited to guide the Sussexes' ambitious ventures, including a new business, podcast, and television project. Her expertise and steady leadership are critical to navigating this dynamic period of growth." Ms Cashin, meanwhile, has become a valued consultant and provided "deep operational insight for key projects". It follows various claims against the Sussexes regarding their staff's tenure and their "apparent inability to attract and retain the right staff". ‌ Royal author Tom Quinn previously spoke to the Mirror about Josh Kettler's departure and said his abrupt exit came as "no surprise". He said: "In the years since Meghan and Harry married in 2018, they are estimated to have lost a staggering amount of key members of staff. One former employee told me the problem is that Meghan and Harry always assume that it is as easy to do something as it is to tell someone to do it. The couple hates being told something is just not possible. "Kettler had been seen as having the golden touch. Harry believed his new chief of staff could reverse his declining popularity in the States and transform him into an internationally important figure. Anything less than that would not be acceptable." Tom further claimed that Mr Kettler's departure had been a "serious blow" and not just because the couple were "now rudderless once again". He added: "What makes Kettler's departure really embarrassing for the royal couple is that word is beginning to get around and one or two people who have been approached by them have turned down the chance to work for them. ‌ "The real issue is that Kettler's departure reminds everyone that working for Meghan and Harry is a seemingly impossible task. They are just too demanding and always expect too much." But Kettler has since spoken out about his time working for the couple and had high praises. Speaking to US Weekly, Kettler, who had previously been chief of staff and head of strategic partnerships at the communication platform Cognixion, revealed what it was really like working for Harry and Meghan - and told how he was "warmly welcomed" by both of them and their Archewell team.
