Coahoma's Hannah Wells wins Gatorade National Softball Player of the Year award
COAHOMA, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – On Monday, it was announced that Coahoma superstar softball pitcher Hannah Wells won the Gatorade State Softball Player of the Year award, and today, she won the Gatorade National Softball Player of the Year award.
Wells recently wrapped up her time playing for the Bulldogettes by helping them to win their third straight state championship in their fourth straight appearance. In her four years with Coahoma, the team finished 136-9-1 for a total of 146 games.
According to MaxPreps from the last four seasons, Hannah Wells hit 86 home runs and 253 runs batted in with a .591 batting average. In the pitcher's circle, Wells went 77-3 with a .75 earned run average (ERA) with 879 strikeouts while only allowing 11 home runs.
Wells now prepares to put on the burnt orange uniform when she heads to the University of Texas at Austin in the Fall after completing summer ball. The Longhorns are coming off their first-ever National Championship after defeating Texas Tech in a best-of-three series.
