Ex-NFL Kicker Jay Feely Credits 1 Trump Moment For Inspiring His Run For Congress

Former NFL kicker and Donald Trump supporter Jay Feely said the moment Trump survived an assassination attempt inspired him to seek political office. On Tuesday in Arizona, the ex-New York Jets and Arizona Cardinals player announced he was running for a U.S. House of Representatives seat in the 2026 midterms. He's vying for the 5th District post being vacated by Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.), who's running for governor. In a video shared by Cactus Politics, Feely said he discussed a run for office with Trump and Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) at Mar-a-Lago two years ago, but it 'wasn't the right time.' He started to reconsider after Trump's ear was grazed by a gunman's bullet in Pennsylvania last summer. 'You see somebody who's willing to literally, intentionally give their life for our country, you start asking yourself, what am I doing and can I do more?' Feely said. 'And that's, I think, where my heart started to, like, lean towards running for office and actually thinking about it and praying about it,' he added. In an interview with Fox News, Feely applauded the Trump administration's crackdown on immigrants and accused former President Joe Biden of sitting by as 'tens of millions of illegals come into our country and he could have taken the measures that President Trump did in three months.' Some of the immigrants Trump has targeted in the last three months are in the country legally, and his administration has defiedthe courts in carrying out the deportations. Feely, who has spent several seasons covering football for CBS, also gave a shout-out to House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) for keeping Republicans 'united' behind Trump's 'endeavors to fix the border and fix our economy.' Trump has, however, conducted a market-rattling tariff trade war while intimidating Fed Chair Jerome Powell ― both of which have eroded financial trust in the country. One Of The Super Bowl Losers Visits Trump In White House Before Champion Eagles

Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker visited President Donald Trump on Thursday before the Philadelphia Eagles, the team that beat the Chiefs in the Super Bowl, have yet to travel to the White House for the traditional winners celebration. Photos shared on White House accounts showed the right-wing jock with Trump and press secretary Karoline Leavitt. 'Harrison Butker stopped by the White House today, and the President couldn't have been happier to say hello,' an administration official told Fox News. But there was no explanation why. Butker's audience with Trump should come as no surprise, however. He endorsed Trump in the lead-up to the 2024 election and founded a conservative political action committee to inspire Christians to vote. The kicker became a household name after his inflammatory graduation speech at Benedictine College in May. He slammed abortion rights, diversity programs and the LGBTQ+ community, while also suggesting that female graduates should look more forward to becoming homemakers than career successes. The Chiefs made it to President Joe Biden's White House in 2024 to celebrate their second straight Super Bowl victory. Meanwhile, the Trump White House and Eagles seemed to be working out some kind of arrangement this time around. Trump said this week the White House would invite the Eagles but nothing appears official yet. Both the White House and the team confirmed previously that the Eagles had not been given an invitation. A tabloid report said the team already planned to reject an invite, but Eagles sources said they would gladly accept if offered. In 2018 Trump rescinded an invitation to the Eagles after they won the Super Bowl because he got wind that many players wouldn't come anyway. Trump's rebuke of kneeling national anthem protests had become a hot-button issue. Super Bowl Reporter Adan Manzano Dies At 27 In New Orleans, Foul Play Suspected

Adan Manzano, a 27-year-old sports anchor in Kansas City, has died while covering the Chiefs at the Super Bowl in New Orleans amid growing suspicion of foul play. Manzano died on Wednesday, according to his outlet, Telemundo KC. The cause was being determined in an autopsy, reported, noting through authorities that he died in his hotel room in Kenner, Louisiana, near New Orleans. 'Adan was so young and full of energy, and truly covered almost every event in the community,' Kansas City mayor Quinton Lucas wrote on X. 'So very sad to see this news. My condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.' The Spanish-language station, which began employing Manzano nearly four years ago as a freelance sports anchor, said it was cooperating with police in its investigation. Cops may have gotten a break Friday, arresting a woman who was caught using Manzano's credit card and has an arrest history of credit card fraud and allegedly drugging men, Fox8 reported. She was also seen on surveillance video with Manzano and leaving his hotel room, investigators said. So far, she faces only fraud and theft charges. 'Adan was an exceptional professional and a rising star whose dedication and talent reflected excellence in his work,' Telemundo said in a statement. 'We will deeply miss Adan, his passion for sports and the contributions he made to the local community.' Manzano was scheduled to work the sideline for the game between the Chiefs and Eagles on Tico Sports' radio broadcast, WWNO reported. Kansas City-based Tico mourned the loss of its colleague in an announcement on its website. 'He was an enthusiastic and energetic team player who was well liked and respected,' the statement read. 'Adan was a devoted father to his young daughter, a helpful colleague, and loyal friend.' Manzano is survived by his toddler daughter, Eleanor. His wife, Ashleigh LeeAnn Boyd, died in a car crash less than a year ago. HuffPost has reached out to local police in New Orleans but did not immediately hear back.
