Five feared dead in another shooting at an aid distribution site in Gaza
Tottenham sack Australian coach Ange Postecoglou Queensland Police have located human remains believed to be of missing teenager Pheobe Bishop. They have released a statement that the remains were found in the Good Night Scrub National Park area by specialist units late on Friday afternoon. Two of Ms Bishop's housemates, 34-year-old James Wood and 33-year-old Tanika Bromley have appeared in Bundaberg Magistrates Court in southern Queensland each charged with one count of murder. Police allege the body of Ms Bishop was moved multiple times by Mr Wood and Ms Bromley. A woman found not guilty of a workplace safety charge relating to a deadly jumping castle accident says she understands the anger parents feel toward her. Six children died when a gust of wind carried the jumping castle into the air at Hillcrest Primary School in 2021, while three others were seriously injured. Speaking through her lawyer Bethan Frake, Ms Gamble has said she can only imagine the pain of the children's parents: "I don't ask for people's understanding. I accept that people will feel anger and animosity toward me. I know there is nothing I can ever do which will change that. I never meant for something like this to happen. And I am just so sorry that it did." The wife of Robert Pether says she remains concerned about her husband's health, now he has been released from an Iraqi prison. The Australian engineer had been imprisoned on fraud charges his family said had arisen from a contract dispute over the construction of a central bank in Baghdad. Foreign Minister Penny Wong has hailed his release, saying in a statement it followed 'persistent advocacy' by the government. But Desree Pether has said the government had not been doing enough to help, highlighting her husband's worsening health. "He had a scan 18 months ago, which showed some nodule, but they've increased in size and number, and he has a lot in his right lung, which is where he's had the excruciating pain. Just shocking, the human rights abuse." Authorities say five Palestinians have been shot dead while trying to collect aid in southern Gaza. Officials at Nasser Hospital say the shootings happened when crowds gathered near an aid distribution point in Rafah, in what would be the latest in a series of deadly incidents near food hubs where displaced Palestinians have been queuing for essential supplies. Bilal Barhoum, who was displaced from Rafah, says he was there. "I went inside to bring aid. The tanks, the quadcopters, all started shooting at you, shooting from everywhere. I saw people injured in their feet, hands, stomachs. Many injuries inside." More than 700 people have been evacuated from their homes in Guatemala as a volcano shoots ash miles into the air. Disaster agency CONRED says the residents have been taken to safety as a precaution, because authorities have been warning of increased activity around the frequently active Fuego volcano this week. A seismology agency says a lava stream is building up around the crater of the volcano, which lies about 18 kilometres from the central city of Antigua Guatemala. Muslims in Australia have joined in the global celebrations of Eid al-Adha, one of two key festivals in the Islamic calendar. It's a celebration which involves the sacrificing of an animal - generally a lamb, a goat or a cow - and then sharing the food with friends, family and those living in poverty. Indonesian-Australian man Miftahuddin from the Sydney suburb of Lakemba, says Eid al-Adha is a time to demonstrate his love to God, and share this love with others. "We celebrate the Eid by first in the morning go to praying. It's called Eid al-Adha praying. Then I personally cook Indonesian traditional food and I give that food to my friends in the college or my housemate." To sport, Tottenham have dismissed Australian head coach Ange Postecoglou after two seasons in charge of the EPL club and despite victory in the Europa League final. Tottenham has confirmed the sacking in a statement that said the decision had been made after a review of his performance and signifcant reflection.
The club says it's made what it believes to be the right decision to give them the best chance of success moving forward.
