Milestone advances KSA's THAAD procurement established during President Trump's trip to the Kingdom during his first term JEDDAH, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, May, 2025 – Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) Missiles and Fire Control President Tim Cahill, along with the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI) Assistant Deputy Nawaf Albawardi, and Wasim Attieh President of Arabian International Company for Steel Structures (AIC) recently met at AIC's Jeddah facility to review the shared progress towards AIC's efforts to produce locally-sourced components for the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) Weapon System. During the visit, the team celebrated the first completion of locally-produced components for the THAAD launcher, highlighting the ongoing collaboration and achievements in local manufacturing. This achievement showcases AIC's expertise in precision welding and the effective application of advanced manufacturing techniques. It is particularly significant as it demonstrates how the two companies successfully worked to bolster manufacturing expertise, strengthening the country's defense industrial base while establishing a second source and building resilience for the U.S. supply chain. 'This is a tremendous milestone for the United States of America and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as our nations work to fulfill the Kingdom's THAAD procurement,' said Tim Cahill, president, Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control. Localisation in Saudi military industries rises to 19.35%

RIYADH —The localization rate of military industries in Saudi Arabia rose to 19.35% in 2024, exceeding the 2023 target of approximately 12.5%, according to the localization rate index, one of the key indicators of Saudi's Vision 2030. The military industries aim to achieve a 50% localization rate by 2030, a step that reflects rapid progress. The index recorded a remarkable increase between 2021 and 2023, increasing by more than 12 percentage points in two years, exceeding the annual targets set for 2022 and 2023. The Governor of the General Authority for Military Industries(GAMI), Eng. Ahmed Al-Ohali, said: "This progress is the result of the efforts made by the Authority and its partners in the military, security, and private sectors, since its establishment in 2017, to enact regulations and legislation related to the sector, enabling investors to engage in military industries activities, in addition to the supply chain project aimed at localizing more military spending and supporting the national economy." Saudi Arabia's military spending has grown annually since 1960, reaching approximately 4.5%, reaching $75.8 billion by 2024, according to a previous statement by GAMI. This makes Saudi Arabia the 5th -largest country in the world and the first in the Arab world in terms of military spending. Al-Ohali's remarks came during his speech at the 25th Global Defense and Aerospace Strategies Conference held in Antalya, Turkey. The conference was organized by the Defense, Aerospace and Defense Industries Exporters Association (DASI) and the Presidency of Defense Industries of Turkey (SSB). World Defense Show announces larger, tech-focused 2026 edition

The World Defense Show, founded by the General Authority for Military Industries in Saudi Arabia, revealed several new features to be implemented at its upcoming third edition in 2026, under the theme, 'The Future of Defense Integration.' The details of the show, including the expansion of the venue space, were announced at IDEX 2025 on Feb. 18 in Abu Dhabi. To be held from Feb. 8-12, 2026 in Riyadh, WDS will showcase the latest advancements in defense technologies across all five defense domains — air, land, sea, space, and security. Building on the success of its two prior editions, WDS 2026 will bring together global defense stakeholders to further foster collaboration, innovation, and international partnerships to strengthen global defense capabilities. WDS contributes to Saudi Arabia's growth in the defense sector and is aligned with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 to localize 50 percent of defense spending in the Kingdom. WDS 2026 will span 273,000 square meters of exhibition space, including a new fourth hall. Since its inception in 2022, the area of exhibition stands has seen a considerable 58 percent growth. WDS 2026, in its third edition, is set to be even bigger and has received global participation with 65 percent of exhibition stands already sold. Pearcey said a key highlight of the 2026 show will be the Future Defense Lab, a revolutionary platform showcasing a new era of innovators, from startups to global primes, presenting cutting-edge technologies. In addition, the Unmanned Systems Zone too will bring the latest advancements in autonomous technology to the forefront, offering attendees the opportunity to experience the next phase of unmanned developments across all defence domains, he noted. A key new feature that reflects the kingdom's growing defence sector capabilities is the Saudi Supply Chain Zone, which enables small- and medium-sized Saudi enterprises the opportunity to connect with key players in the global defense supply chain, thereby strengthening local and international partnerships, said GAMI, the founder of World Defence Show. Additionally, there will be a Naval Zone that will offer a comprehensive look at the future of maritime defence, underscoring the integral role of naval capabilities in maintaining global stability and securing economic interests, it added. Pearcey said WDS had received resounding positive feedback from the previous two editions, exceeding its expectations across the board.
