Tripoli security bolstered after Monday morning tensions

Libyan authorities have reinforced security patrols across sensitive areas in Tripoli following brief unrest in the early hours of Monday. The Law Enforcement Department of the General Directorate for Security Operations said it had increased its presence in 'frontline areas' of the capital. The move comes in line with existing ceasefire arrangements and aims to safeguard citizens and property. Earlier, the Ministry of Defence under the Government of National Unity confirmed that the situation in Tripoli had stabilised after what it described as 'unexpected movements' by armed elements. The ministry said the developments represented a 'clear breach' of established de-escalation agreements. A statement released by the ministry said immediate action was taken to contain the movements, with violating groups retreating to their previous positions without any escalation.
