Canned tuna products sold under Genova, Van Camp's, H-E-B and Trader Joe's brand names have been recalled for potential botulism risks. In Florida, the cans were sold at Costco, Publix, Walmart and independent retailers, according to a release shared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration Monday. It comes from Clostridium botulinum bacteria, which thrive in low-oxygen, low-acid, low-sugar, and low-salt environments, according to the CDC. Common sources include contaminated food, wounds, and infant exposure. According to the CDC, signs and symptoms of foodborne botulism may include vomiting, nausea, stomach pain, and diarrhea. If you experience these symptoms, seek immediate medical attention, as botulism can be life-threatening and requires urgent treatment.
