Albany teen arrested for attempted prison drop in Washington Co.
WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) – Early Tuesday morning, around 3:30 am, Washington County Deputies were called out to a suspicious person spotted with a backpack in a cornfield near Washington State Prison.
Working alongside the Georgia Department of Corrections K-9 Unit, deputies quickly set up a perimeter while the K-9 team tracked the suspect through the field.
By 5:30 AM, the suspect was located and taken into custody thanks to the combined efforts of WCSO and GDC.
Arrested was 19-year-old Maurice Stewart of Albany, Georgia.
He is charged with:
2 counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute
4 counts of Items Prohibited by the Warden
1 count of Trading with Inmates
He was in possession of:
2 bottles of Promethazine
1 pound of marijuana
4 pounds of tobacco
5 cellular phones with accessories and other miscellaneous items
