Georgia Tennant admits she 'dines out' on her husband David's role as her dad in Doctor Who because it 'makes her feel young'

Georgia Tennant quipped she 'dines out' on her famous husband David's role as her dad in Doctor Who. The English actress, 40, was introduced to the Scottish acting icon, 54, when she was cast as the genetically engineered daughter of his character, the Doctor, in the fourth series of hit fantasy BBC show. The TV star told The Sunday Times: 'My husband David played my dad — I dine out on that', adding it makes her husband feel 'old and it makes me feel young'. Moreover, Georgia's father and English actor Peter Davidson played the fifth incarnation of the Doctor between 1981 to 1984. The couple tied the knot in 2011 and share four children together Olive, 14, Wilfred, 12, Doris, nine, and Birdie, five, while David also adopted Georgia's son from a previous relationship, Ty. The actress made a stylish outing on Sunday as she appeared in good spirits while departing Sunday Brunch studios following a TV appearance. The Staged star turned heads in a salmon pink co-ord featuring a chic blazer and matching trousers. She completed the look with a white top and a set of gold jewellery, keeping a flawless blow-dry on her outing. The beloved BBC star was snapped stopping to sign autographs to a few lucky fans before whisking off. Georgia's candid admission comes after she shared a sweet tribute to the actor in an Instagram post earlier this month, as they celebrated 17 years since they first started dating. Posting a gallery of snaps from throughout their relationship, Georgia gushed about her 'kind, funny and relentlessly generous' spouse. However, she also took the chance to poke fun at her husband after he once again missed out on a win for a BAFTA Television Award over the weekend, despite being nominated for his role in the Disney+ series Rivals. Georgia's caption read: '17 years since we became us. I am so relieved I get to do it all with you. My kind, funny, relentlessly generous, Bafta-less love. You are it x.' The acclaimed star had been nominated for Leading Actor in a Drama for his role in Rivals, but missed out on the gong to Lennie Jamies for Mr Loverman. Despite earning praise for his role in Rivals, with filming for a second series currently underway, ITV's hope to turn the into one of their new faces has failed as his latest show has been one of the channel's biggest rating flops in years. The actor hosted Genius Game, which cost ITV more than £2.5million to make. Despite the channel investing in the former Time Lord, the viewing figures, which were released this week, showed only an average of 739,000 people tuned in

Sunday Brunch fans left wondering if Danny Dyer is 'stuck in the toilet' or fast asleep after actor misses first hour of Channel 4 show

Sunday Brunch got off to a chaotic start this week, as Danny Dyer failed to arrive for the first hour of the live programme. Hosts Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer, were quick to inform viewers at the start of the Channel 4 show that the actor, 47, was 'on his way'. They introduced the star-studded lineup of guests for the latest episode, including Georgia Tennant, Alex Horne, Louise Redknapp, Patrick Grant, Christian Cooke and Sheku Kanneh-Mason. However, Danny was conspicuous in his absence from the breakfast table, with a chair set out for him remaining empty. Tim addressed the no-show, explaining that the former EastEnders star was busy filming the second series of hit show Rivals. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. He told the audience: 'Now Danny Dyer is joining us today, but he's busy right in the middle of filming Rivals.' Tim then joked: 'He is on his way though and he's offered to stop in at the services to get pick up some bits and bobs. Anyone want anything?' Comedian Alex requested: 'A sausage role?' as Tim continued: 'Sausage roll alright, we'll text him later.' He added: 'He's a very successful man at the moment. He did just get a BAFTA and he'll be celebrating on the show. We'd like to make him feel special'. Co-host Simon then pulled out of the fridge a comically small bottle of champagne, quipping: 'We've pushed the boat out'. Despite the explanation for his tardiness, as Danny continued to be a no-show, fans took to social media to ponder over the reasons for his absence and poke fun at Tim and Simon's attempts to keep things rolling. One viewer joked that the pair were taking part in Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly's famous Get Out Of Me Ear prank, where they secretly give instructions to a celeb through an earpiece. While other quipped: 'Is Danny Dyer stuck in the toilet or something?' and another suggested: 'Danny Dyer spent Saturday night out with the crew and they are still trying to wake him up.' A fourth person theorised that Channel 4 bosses were worried about Danny's famous potty-mouth on the live show, tweeting: 'What are they waiting for someone to fit in the bleep machine before letting Danny Dyer on?' However, thankfully Danny later arrived on the set an hour into the broadcast, after wrapping up filming on Rivals for the morning. The Disney+ show, based on author Jilly Cooper's novel of the same name - premiered in October 2024 and was quickly greenlit for a second season. Danny was reunited with his co-stars on the steamy drama on Thursday, as filming for the second instalment of the hit show kicked off. Emily Atack treated fans with some behind-the-scenes snaps with her and Danny having a drink at the pub with co-stars Alex Hassell, Luke Pasqualino and Rufus Jones. Earlier this month Disney+ confirmed that Rivals will return for a second series after its huge success last year - and they have treated fans to an extra four episodes. The first series, which was eight episodes, became a huge hit and ended on a huge cliffhanger after David Tennant's character Lord Tony Baddingham was left for dead. Though the fate of Lord Baddingham appeared dire, it has now been confirmed that David will reprise his role in the upcoming second season in a major casting update. Despite the explanation for his tardiness, as Danny continued to be a no-show, fans took to social media to ponder over the reasons for his absence and poke fun at Tim and Simon's attempts to keep things rolling The streaming service has also confirmed that they have already started filming again, with fans set to be treated to 12 new episodes. Along with David's return, Alex will reprise his role as Rupert Campbell-Black and Aidan Turner will once again star as Declan O'Hara. Nafessa Williams will once again take on the role of Cameron Cook, while Bella Maclean will again play Taggie O'Hara and Emily will return as Sarah Stratton. The likes of Katherine Parkinson, Claire Rushbrook, Catriona Chandler, Lisa McGrillis and Annabel Scholey and Luca Pacqalino will also be on the show. Rivals fans previously begged Disney+ for a second series of the saucy show after binge watching all it's eight episodes in a matter of days but were forced to wait months until the news was officially confirmed. Author and executive producer Dame Jilly Cooper said of the news: 'I'm utterly sex-static filming for the second season is upon us. 'It was magical working with Happy Prince and Disney+ on the first season and seeing everyone fall head over heels for my beloved characters. 'I'm delighted to be able to work with them again and for everyone to see what further mischief they all get up to!' Executive producers Dominic Treadwell-Collins and Alexander Lamb added: 'We are so excited to be returning to Rutshire for an extended stay of twelve episodes for season two of Rivals. 'It's very special to have the same team return in front of and behind the cameras and we cannot wait to share more of Jilly's world with our audience.' And Lee Mason, who is executive director of scripted content for Disney+, added: 'It's a real privilege to have this phenomenal team back together for season two of Rivals. 'From the exceptional cast, the remarkable creative team behind the camera – including the one and only Dame Jilly Cooper. Disney+ audiences are in for an absolute treat.. Rutshire here we come…' The story is set in 1986 and .

David Tennant's wife Georgia shares sweet tribute to the 'relentlessly generous' actor as they celebrate 17 years together (but still pokes fun at his BAFTAs snub!)

David Tennant's wife Georgia shared a sweet tribute to the actor in an Instagram post on Tuesday, as they celebrated 17 years since they first started dating. The couple, who met on the set of Doctor Who in 2008, married on New Year's Eve in 2011 and share five children. You are it x.' The couple met in 2008, when Georgia starred in the BBC hit series Doctor Who, as she took on the role of David's character's genetically engineered daughter Jenny, and they married three years later. David adopted Georgia's son, Ty, 23, from a previous relationship, and they went on to have three daughters, Olive, 12, Doris, eight, and Birdie, four, and a son, Wilfred, 10. The acclaimed star had been nominated for Leading Actor in a Drama for his role in Rivals, but missed out on the gong to Lennie Jamies for Mr Loverman. Despite earning praise for his role in Rivals, with filming for a second series currently underway, ITV 's hope to turn the into one of their new faces has failed as his latest show has been one of the channel's biggest rating flops in years. The actor hosted Genius Game, which cost ITV more than £2.5million to make. Despite the channel investing in the former Time Lord, the viewing figures, which were released this week, showed only an average of 739,000 people tuned in. BBC One's Race Across the World on Wednesday and Channel 4 documentary, Madeleine McCann: The Unseen Evidence both thrashed the game show. A television insider told The Sun: 'The Genius Game was a reflection of ITV's rush to create the next big challenge show following the huge success of The Traitors. 'They chose Tennant as he's such a household name, although his not-insubstantial fee also inflated the cost of making the programme. Yet despite pumping so much money into the show, it hasn't delivered ratings wise.' The actress sharing a sweet caption paying tribute to her spouse of 13 years The prime-time reality game-show sees contestants compete in a series of mental challenges. During the first show, Genius Game kicked off with an average of 1.2million watching but by episode two that had dramatically dropped to 846,000. This week the ratings plummeted again and ITV have announced that it will be cutting the show from two episodes a week to one. Meanwhile Race Across the World, which aired at the same time on BBC One, had an average rating of 3.3million. A spokesperson for ITV has since said that Genius Game has gained extra viewers on catch-up on ITVX. They said: 'Genius Game remains in the peak schedule on ITV1 at 9pm on Wednesdays and is available to view on ITVX. 'Episode one (shown on Wednesday, April 30) has so far consolidated with 1.9million viewers. Episode two is currently up to 1.3million.'
