Barcelona set asking price for player wanted by Wolves

Barcelona are set to part ways with several players this summer, and one of them could be on their way to the Premier League. The likes of Andreas Christensen, Pablo Torre and Ansu Fati are expected to be leaving Barcelona during this summer's second transfer window, which opens for business at the start of July. And in recent days, it has emerged that another first team player could be on the move – that being Gerard Martin. Advertisement Martin, who was backup to Alejandro Balde at left-back throughout last season, has attracted interest from Wolves. The Premier League side are in the market for a replacement for Manchester City-bound Rayan Ait-Nouri, and among their options is the Barcelona man. Barcelona establish Gerard Martin asking price Image via Squakwa As reported by Sport, Barcelona are open to selling Martin, although he was not one of the players that they had been expected to leave this summer. They are prepared to accept an offer in the region of €12m, which would represent good profit on a player that joined from UE Cornella two years. Advertisement Barcelona have yet to receive an offer from Wolves, who will be more than capable of reaching the asking price that has been established by the La Liga champions. If a deal were to go through, the report notes that Hector Fort would no longer be considered for departure during the summer transfer window. Fort is the player that had looked most likely to leave Barcelona this summer, although he is reportedly not keen on the idea of a departure. And he would get his wish if Martin goes, with the club not willing to lose a third left-back option about Martin and Alex Valle, who has already completed a transfer to Serie A side Como. It remains to be seen whether Wolves made a move for Martin, but if they do, it would be no surprise to see a deal completed.

Wolves want to sign Barcelona star favoured by Hansi Flick

Barcelona will need to sell players this summer in order to be able to afford their targets, and a new name has emerged as a candidate to be moved on during the transfer window. The likes of Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, Ronald Araujo and Pablo Torre have been mentioned as players that could leave during the summer transfer window. Alex Valle has already departed, while a deal for Ansu Fati to join AS Monaco on loan is believed to be at an advanced stage. Wolves set sights on Barcelona defender Gerard Martin And another La Masia graduate that could be on the move this summer is Gerard Martin. The 23-year-old, who is a favourite of Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick after acting as backup to Alejandro Balde last season, is attracting interest from Premier League side Wolves, as reported by Matteo Moretto. Advertisement Wolves are set to lose starting left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri to fellow Premier League side Manchester City, and they have started their search for a replacement. And it appears that Martin is on their list of candidates to be considered for a summer signing. Image via Gerard Martin As things stand, Martin will continue as Barcelona's deputy left-back for next season, having gained Flick's trust. But given that he is not a regular starter, it is likely that the club would consider a sale, depending on the offer presented by Wolves – should they make a move in the coming weeks. It is unclear at this stage what Barcelona would value Martin at, but given his squad status, it should be more than the €6m they received this week from the sale of fellow left-back Valle to Serie A side Como. For now, it remains to be seen whether Wolves make a concrete attempt to sign the young defender during the summer.

Hansi Flick criticises referee after Barcelona defeat: ‘Every 50/50 decision was for Inter'

Having been 2-0 down at half-time, Barca produced a brilliant three-goal second-half comeback to stun the San Siro and stand on the brink of the final, leading 6-5 on aggregate. But Francesco Acerbi steered home a late equaliser for Inter to force extra time, and substitute Davide Frattesi added another to clinch a dramatic 7-6 win for the Italian club, who will face to Paris-St Germain or Arsenal in the final. Acerbi's goal was controversial, as Barcelona left-back Gerard Martin claimed to have been fouled as he lost the ball in the build-up, and Flick criticised Polish referee Szymon Marciniak who had a busy night. He awarded Inter a penalty after a VAR review for a challenge by Pau Cubarsi on Lautaro Martinez that he did not deem an infringement and later reversed a decision he had signaled as a spot kick for Barcelona, with VAR saying Henrikh Mkhitaryan's foul on Lamine Yamal was just outside the box. Barca's players and bench also complained about what they thought was handball inside the box by Inter defender Acerbi and a foul by fullback Denzel Dumfries on Gerard Martin in the build-up to the equaliser which took the game to extra time. 'I don't want to talk too much about the referee, but every decision that was 50-50 went (Inter's) way,' German Flick told a press conference. 'I am disappointed, but not with my team. They tried everything. It's the way it is. We are out, but next year we will try again to make the fans happy. 'It makes me sad ... My team did an excellent job. I don't like talking about the referee ... I've told him what I think, but I'm not going to say it here what I've said...' Barca were chasing a treble after winning the Copa del Rey, but will now turn their focus to LaLiga, where they top the table and on Sunday host rivals Real Madrid, who trail them by four points with four games to go. The five-times winners were hoping to reach their first Champions League final in a decade, but were left licking their wounds ahead of Sunday's 'El Clasico'. Unbeaten domestically since late December, Barcelona will try to grab a fourth consecutive victory over Real this season. 'We'll learn from this. It's a progression. We want to keep learning. We don't have much time to train now, but next weekend we are back. It's normal to be disappointed,' Flick said. 'The team deserves the respect they have earned. We play to win, we want to win titles and we have LaLiga, with a very difficult match. We have a few days to prepare for this match. 'Each player, when they get home, can look in the mirror and be proud of themselves. We'll analyse the game calmly and see what we can do.'

Hansi Flick criticises referee after Barcelona defeat: ‘Every 50/50 decision was for them'

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick criticised the referee after his side were knocked out of the Champions League in a thrilling semi-final with Inter Milan. Having been 2-0 down at half-time, Barca produced a brilliant three-goal second-half comeback to stun the San Siro and stand on the brink of the final, leading 6-5 on aggregate. Barcelona's Alejandro Balde suffers hamstring injury; doubt for Copa del Rey final

Barcelona defender Alejandro Balde is a doubt for the Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid after suffering an injury to his left hamstring. The left-back suffered the injury in Saturday's La Liga victory at Leganes, having to be replaced in the 41st minute by Gerard Martin. Balde is now set to miss the second leg of Barca's Champions League quarter-final tie against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday, which Hansi Flick's side lead 4-0, alongside the upcoming La Liga matches against Celta Vigo and Real Mallorca. The 21-year-old, who has started 39 matches across all competitions this season, will hope to return to fitness for the Copa final against Madrid on April 26. Tests carried out on Sunday morning on the first team player Alejandro Balde confirm that he has a distal injury to his left hamstring. His return to action with the first team will depend on his recovery. — FC Barcelona (@FCBarcelona) April 13, 2025 Barca's win at Leganes moved them seven points clear at the top of La Liga ahead of second-place Madrid, who have the chance to reduce the gap on Sunday with their trip to Alaves. Flick is on course to win a treble in his first season in charge of Barca, with his side well-placed domestically and in the Champions League. Barca won four successive Copa del Rey titles between 2015 and 2018 but have won just one of the last six, winning the 2021 final against Athletic Club of Bilbao. ()
