Mel B spotted along with her Spice Girl bandmates at 50th birthday party – but two skipped the bash

MEL B is spotted along with two of her Spice Girl bandmates at her 50th birthday bash. Emma Bunton and Mel C were among the guests in leopard-print outfits, in homage to Scary Spice Mel's best-known stage get-ups. 5 5 But Geri Horner and Victoria Beckham were not at the Leeds party on Saturday. Insiders said Posh was away for work and Geri declined the invitation to the event. We told last week how the Girls' ex-manager is in talks for them to reunite as avatars, following in the steps of Abba. An insider spilled: 'Mel's throwing a huge party in Leeds for her 50th. It's also her fiance's birthday today so it's a joint celebration and will be a real family affair. "But Geri and Posh can't make it. Posh had a work commitment she couldn't get out of. "It's a bit awkward given the reunion excitement." The Sun has contacted their reps for comment. The snub comes just days after we revealed plans for the group to reunite as Avatars, following in the footsteps of pop legends Abba. It would see holograms of Geri, Mels B and C, Emma Bunton and Victoria playing their biggest hits. Major new Spice Girls project planned with boss Simon Fuller inspired by groundbreaking hit – but will Posh be involved? 5 5

Two Spice Girls set to snub Mel B's 50th birthday celebrations tonight days after reunion announcement

MEL B's big 50th birthday bash in Leeds tonight is set to be a glitzy affair. But The Sun can reveal TWO of her Spice Girls bandmates are giving it a miss. 6 6 Victoria Beckham and Geri Horner will be skipping the bash. Posh is out of town for work, but Geri has turned down the invitation. Victoria, who was not part of their 2019 tour, was said to have suggested she would agree if the others did. A source added: 'Their former manager Simon Fuller is desperate to have one last hurrah with the Spice Girls and this is his latest idea. "He was the person who came up with the original idea for Abba and their digital show and he thinks this model could work perfectly for the group. Mel B is due to marry Rory McPhee, 38, later this year. It comes as Geri and Mel suffered a "frosty reunion" at Victoria's birthday last year. Geri and Mel are said to have kept their distance at Oswald's private members' club in Mayfair at the star-studded bash. A source said of the stars, who had a second No1 in 1996 with Say You'll Be There: 'Mel tried to smooth things over with Geri at the party but it didn't go as planned. "She was laughing it all off but Geri didn't seem interested in hearing what she had to say and wandered off. 'When it came to taking their group picture, Geri kept as far away from Mel as possible which was awkward to watch." Any awkwardness between the group, who split in 2000, seemed to be forgotten by the time they hit the dancefloor — where they performed their 1997 hit Stop. Onlookers told The Sun the five also sat down at a table together and talked during the evening. 6 6

Geri Horner is still cashing it in from her Spice Girls days as she banks £860,000 in a year through girl group

Geri Horner is still profiting from her years as Ginger Spice, almost three decades after she quit the Spice Girls in 1998. The singer, 52, has several profitable business ventures alongside her husband Christian Horner, including a race horse company, real estate investments and as a children's author. However, even without those incomes, the pop star is still sitting pretty, as new accounts filings reveal she made more than £860,000 last year though her former band. Geri's company, Wonderful Productions, was set up to receive income from the Spice Girls, and according to the latest published accounts, has reported an £862,312 profit for the 12 months up to August 2024. This takes the accumulated earnings held by the mum-of-two in the business to a staggering £2.16 million. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. The singer, 52, has several profitable business ventures alongside her husband Christian Horner (seen together last year), including a race horse company, real estate investments and as a children's author Geri created Wonderful Productions in 1997 - originally under the name Firecracker Productions Limited - at the height of the Spice Girls' fame and channels earnings from her career in music and other commercial deals. She later set up Falcon Queen Productions in May 2021 to provide 'business support activities', of which she is the director and sole employee and controls via Wonderful Productions, which owns all the shares. Despite the enduring love of the 90s girl group however, the business has seen its finances go up and down over the years. MailOnline revealed in February last year that it was a very different story for Geri, with accounts for Wonderful Productions showing she made a loss in 2023 of £77,994. While Falcon Queen Limited also made losses of £75,521 and plunged £276,000 into the red. However, the year prior had seen Geri enjoy a £762,240 payout from the company, while in 2020 she paid herself more than £1 million and in 2019 the business was worth £3 million. It comes after it was revealed that her already staggering wealth was only getting bigger, after her horseracing empire enjoyed a bumper year. Geri and husband Christian, 51, set up their racehorse owning company, OMBI, back in 2021, with the musician and the Red Bull F1 team principal splitting ownership evenly. And in September, the latest published accounts were revealed to show that after a £600,000 spending spree in 2023, the business' earnings were tripled. The documents revealed that the couple forked out £137,000 on biological assets, £280,000 on buildings and £187,000 on motor vehicles to take assets held to just under £1million. Their investment was seen to have paid off, as OMBI made a profit, with retained earnings after bills climbing to £220,000 from £69,000 the year before. Geri and Christian own a number of race horses, which they have all renamed with titles from tracks from Geri's solo career, including Look at Mee, Lift Me Up, Mi Chico Latino and It's Raining Men. All of the couple's horses run under the 'GHR' banner, which stands for Geri Horner Racing. The pair also finished work in 2023 on a 14-horse stable, which includes two foaling stalls, at their Oxfordshire home - despite sparking complaints from their neighbours. Speaking about his love for horse racing, Christin told the The Telegraph it was 'just a bit of fun' and admitted it was 'bit of escapism away from the madness of F1'. He added: 'We don't really know what we're doing but it's exciting. It's something Geri and I both get a kick out of and something we enjoy as a family.' Geri is also working to take her Rosie Frost trilogy to the big screen, after turning to writing in 2007 and publishing of children's and young adult novels. Last month, The Sun reported she is in talks with film bosses about a movie adaptation of her books, as a consultant. An insider said: 'Geri has had meetings with film bosses over the past month and there have been serious discussions about bringing her book trilogy to the big screen. 'They see real promise in the stories and believe a movie adaptation is a real possibility. 'If a deal is struck, Geri would act as a consultant, she won't be involved in the actual making of the movies as she's happy to leave that to the experts - but it's certainly an exciting time for her.'

Netflix's troubled Spice Girls TV show finally gets some good news

The Spice Girls Netflix drama we have all been waiting for has reportedly secured an acclaimed British writer to create the show. There have been little in the way of updates for the dramatisation of the girl group's – Geri Horner, Mel B, Mel C, Emma Bunton and Victoria Beckham – stratospheric rise to fame after a rocky 2024. Now, however, with a 2026 Spice Girls reunion tour potentially on the cards, a TV insider has revealed Netflix has recruited Bafta-winning Big Boys creator Jack Rooke to pen the pilot celebrating three decades since their debut hit single Wannabe came out. This is a big boost for the as yet unconfirmed project with the source telling The Sun it was 'a real coup' and a 'crucial element' to get the show off the ground. The insider continued: 'He already has a relationship with Mel C, who's a huge fan of his comedy Big Boys, and that could be the pivotal connection that takes things on to the next stage. 'Of course, Netflix has yet to confirm it has commissioned the show and there's still a lot to play for. But there now seems to be a genuine will to make things happen. 'No matter what Jack comes up with, it will be a loving and funny look at the band he grew up listening to in the Nineties and Noughties.' Jack's widely-praised semi-autobiographical comedy, Big Boys, came to a triumphant end this year with a third and final season, making him one of the biggest rising stars writing British TV right now. And his show is well-known for its effortless and well-informed pop culture references which would no doubt be imbued into any show he made about the beloved 90s girl group. In an interview with Variety in April he confirmed he was working on a pilot for Netflix UK which he couldn't say much about. '[It has] some of the hallmarks of Big Boys' while perhaps leaning more on the drama-comedy, he teased. Netflix has already proven the viewers' appetite for all things Spice Girls after the huge love for Posh Spice's involvement in her husband David's documentary which drew in huge figures for the platform. So much so that Victoria is getting her own documentary on Netflix, which will cover her life 'from Spice Girls superstardom in the '90s to modern fashion maven' 'Her Posh Spice days may be behind her, but today Beckham is on a journey to build a fashion empire — and now, fans will be able to see the story behind it all,' the synopsis added. More Trending As for the rumoured world tour, insiders have said that apparently Geri Horner had been difficult to pin down for a while but was now coming with 'a myriad of ideas'. Sadly, they also added that Victoria is '90% out of the running'. 'Unfortunately, Victoria has pretty much ruled herself out, but there is still a world in which she could do some sort of avatar appearance or a special one-off thing,' the source added. $400m divorce behind Spice Girls reunion plans

Spice Girls guru Simon Fuller is facing a $400 million divorce payout — and is 'chasing' their reunion to help pay for it, it is claimed. The music mogul, 64, is hoping to persuade the group to get back together for a mega-money 30th anniversary tour to meet the bills heading his way. It comes after wife Natalie, 46 — married to Fuller for 17 years — filed for divorce on Friday citing 'irreconcilable differences'. He is estimated to be worth more than $920 million, of which she is entitled to up to half. A source said: 'This explains a lot about Simon's desire to get the Spice Girls back together and on the road for a lucrative money-spinning tour.' Fuller, who began his career in 1981 and launched Pop Idol in 2001, has spent much of his career as a friend to A-listers across entertainment and sport. He led the Spice Girls to global success during the 1990s and last month was in touch with Geri Horner amid rumours that they would meet to thrash out a deal for a reunion. In 2019, the band made almost $40 million in profit from 13 stadium shows and it is estimated a new tour could yield $60 million. Victoria Beckham told friends she is '90 per cent out of the running' for next year but Geri, Emma Bunton, Mel B and Mel C are considering it. Fuller, who signed a pre- nuptial agreement with Natalie, married her in May 2008 and the band were guests at the bash. Annie Lennox and Leona Lewis, who Fuller also managed, were among the others. During his career, Fuller has also looked after David Beckham, tennis great Andy Murray and F1 ace Lewis Hamilton, amassing considerable wealth. Time magazine named him one of the world's 100 most influential people in 2007 and, in 2008, Billboard magazine rated him the most successful British music manager of all time. In 2016, he persuaded ABBA to reunite and explore working with virtual reality, which led to the ABBA Voyage project. The 2020 Sunday Times Rich List put his wealth at $920 million. He has three children with interior designer Natalie, one aged 14 and nine-year-old twins.
