Pair of Oklahoma Sooners earn SEC Weekly Honors

After a run-rule weekend, a pair of Oklahoma Sooners earned weekly honors from the SEC. Ella Parker picked up her second-straight SEC Player of the Week award, and Sam Landry was named SEC Pitcher of the Week. Parker was once again fantastic for the Sooners, hitting an incredible .750 with two doubles, two home runs, and six RBIs. She got a hit in each of the Sooners' opening at-bats to help set the tone offensively. Parker leads the Sooners with a .647 batting average and is tied for the team lead with three home runs and 14 RBIs. Landry started just one game for the Sooners, wrapping up Oklahoma's time in Waco with a five-inning perfect game where she recorded eight strikeouts and didn't allow a fly ball in the win. Landry, a transfer from Louisiana, never reached a three-ball count and only faced a two-ball count four times in 15 at-bats. Landry's perfect game is just the second against a ranked opponent in Oklahoma Softball history. She's 3-0 on the season and has thrown 15.1 scoreless innings since her first start against San Diego State. The Oklahoma Sooners are 10-0 on the season and have five run-rule wins to start the season. Now they get set to host Abilene Christian, Wichita State, Bowling Green, and Tulsa for the Norman Tournament. No. 23 Baylor shuts out Hofstra in home opener

WACO, Texas (FOX 44) — Through the rain and the cold weather, Baylor softball emerged victorious to open play at the Getterman Classic, shutting out the Pride with a 7-0 win on Friday night. Despite running into trouble in the first few innings, Sadie Ross never let the Pride across the plate. Ross pitched five scoreless innings and tallied four strikeouts to get her first win of the season. Amber Toven and Presleigh Pilon each drove in multiple runs to help the Bears' bats get going on a cold Friday night. Toven went 1-3 with three RBI's while Pilon plated two on a 2-3 day at the dish.
