CAF African Schools Football Championship Ghana 2025 Draw lines up exciting fixtures ahead of Wednesday start
Excitement ahead of the CAF African Schools Football Championship, Ghana 2025 finals shifted a notch higher on Monday, 21 April as the Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) conducted the Official Draw for the tournament. Accra's University of Ghana Stadium is hosting the third edition of the CAF African Schools Football Championship finals, where eight nations in both the Boys and Girls Under-15 age categories will contest the finals between 23 – 26 April 2025. The official draw, which was conducted by CAF Legends Asamoah Gyan (Ghana) and Clementine Toure (Cote d'Ivoire) lined up a number of exciting group stage fixtures. In the Girls U-15 Draw, hosts Ghana headline an interesting Group A where they will be against Morocco, Benin and Malawi. Champions South Africa begin their title defence in a tough Group B where they will be up against Uganda, DR Congo and The Gambia, who will all be relishing at the opportunity of taking on the title holders in the group stages of the competition. The Boys U-15 Draw produced equally exciting fixtures in both the groups. With the support of the home supporters, Ghana will have to navigate their way past Uganda, South Africa as well as Algeria who all pose a threat to the hosts. Group B of the Boys U-15 division is headlined by defending champions, Tanzania who will face strong competition from Senegal, debutants Cote d'Ivoire and DR Congo, who are represented in both the Boys and Girls divisions. Teams arrive in Accra for CAF African Schools Football Championship, Ghana 2025
The teams competing in the CAF African Schools Football Championship, Ghana 2025 have begun arriving in Accra with excitement building ahead of the Continental Finals that will be staged from 21-26 April, 2025. The third edition of the CAF African Schools Football Championship for players in the Under-15 age-group extends the Confédération Africaine de Football's (CAF) investment in schools and youth football, with the programme in Accra to get underway with a series of workshops on Monday. There are eight Boys and Girls teams that will compete on the pitch, but will also receive guidance away from the field on a range of subjects in what will be a life-changing experience for many. The Capacity Building Workshops will include Safeguarding, Young Reporters, Young Referees, a Coaching course, Safety & Security and Medical. There will also be workshops for the players on Integrity, and sessions held by UNICEF and FIFPRO. The matches at the CAF African Schools Football Championship will begin on Wednesday, 23 April, with the final played on 26 April. All games will be staged at the University of Ghana Stadium in Accra. The draw for the group stages, which will see the countries split into two pools of four teams each, will take place on Monday, 21 April at 14:00 local time / GMT. It will be streamed live of CAF's YouTube Channel, CAF TV. The CAF African Schools Football Championship was launched by CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe in April 2022 in Maputo, Mozambique. The programme enjoys a seed funding of USD 10-million, donated by the Motsepe Foundation at inception. This goes towards the prize monies at the zonal & continental level as well as the organization of the tournament. There is a first prize of USD300,000 for the continental champions in both the Boys and Girls competitions, while the runners-up receive USD 200,000 and third-place USD 150,000. This prize money is used for legacy projects in schools, including renovations, building libraries, infrastructure development and other community-related developments. It is the continent's premier football competition for girls and boys in the Under-15 age-group and the most successful youth sport mobilization movement in Africa. Asamoah Gyan, Clementine Toure to assist with CAF African Schools Football Championship, Ghana 2025 Draw
Published: Monday, 14 April 2025 As excitement builds ahead of the much-anticipated CAF African Schools Football Championship Continental Finals in Ghana, CAF has confirmed African legends Asamoah Gyan and Clementine Toure as assistants for the Official Draw on Monday, 21 April in Accra. The CAF African Schools Football Championship, Ghana 2025 will take place in Accra between 23 – 26 April. Ghana's Gyan and Toure from Cote d'Ivoire will be handed the responsibility of assistaing with the draw of the third edition of Africa's largest school's football competition continental finals. Also present at the draw will be Abedi Pele, Adjoa Bayor (both Ghana), Robert Kidiaba (DR Congo), as well as Amanda Dlamini (South Africa), who alongside Gyan and Toure will play a supporting role to the participating teams throughout the competition. The CAF African Schools Football Championship Continental Finals mark the culmination of another impactful season of the innovative youth football competition, and will see eight (8) nations in both the Boys and Girls Under-15 age categories contesting for continental honours. Running parallel to the four-day competition will be various CAF Capacity Building Programmes that have been uniquely designed in a bid to develop future African talent that is equally able to lead both on and off the pitch. South Africa are the current holders of the CAF African Schools Football Championship Girls U-15 title, after clinching it in a closely contested encounter against Morocco in Tanzania last year. The Boys U-15 title is held by Tanzania, who lifted the trophy in front of their supporters last year, following their win over Guinea. Winners of both the Boys' and Girls' competition will each receive USD 300 000 prize money, with the runners-up receiving USD 200 000 and bronze medallists USD 150 000 to be utilised for development projects within schools.
