Queens rapist wearing ‘Ghost Face' sweatshirt was scared off by victim's daughter: prosecutors

A 50-year-old Queens raped by a masked creep in a 'Ghost Face' sweatshirt from the 'Scream' horror movie franchise managed to call her adult daughter, who ran over and interrupted the attack on a secluded residential block in Queens, prosecutors said Friday. Rody Morales Cu was on top of his victim when the woman's 25-year-old daughter ran up and screamed at him, scaring him off, according to court documents released during Cu's arraignment on rape and sex abuse charges. A Queens criminal court judge ordered Cu, 20, held without bail following the brief arraignment proceeding. The stone-faced Cu said nothing to reporters Wednesday as he was led out of the 112th Precinct in Forest Hills, ignoring questions shouted at him. Cops claim Cu snuck up behind his victim around 3 a.m. on April 11 near the corner of 162nd St. and 89th Ave., near NYCHA's Shelton House in Jamaica. He placed a blade against the woman's side and ordered her to be quiet, but the mom managed to speed dial her daughter on her cellphone and scream for help before Cu knocked her to the ground, cops said. The daughter was nearby and ran over, catching Cu in the act, police said. Startled, Cu ran off and was last seen running down 89th Ave., cops said. His victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Investigators used surveillance footage to track Cu to 160th St. and 90th Ave., where the suspect was caught on camera removing his mask. It also clearly showed the 'Ghost Face' sweatshirt with red lettering highlighting a picture of the scary 'Scream' character. Using area surveillance cameras, cops were able to track Cu all the way to his apartment building on 165th St., prosecutors said. Detectives staking out the building arrested him on Tuesday. As they interrogated him, he admitted to sex with his victim and identified himself in surveillance photos, prosecutors said. The Queens Defenders, which represented Cu at his arraignment, declined to comment when reached, citing the ongoing case.

Cops nab woman who trashed Tesla Cybertruck parked outside Brooklyn Yeshiva

Detectives have arrested a 46-year-old woman recorded dumping trash on a Tesla Cybertruck parked on a Brooklyn sidewalk in an apparent swipe against the company's controversial CEO Elon Musk, cops said Saturday. Natasha Cohen, who lives around the block from where the vandalism took place, is also accused of leaving a brick with a swastika drawn on it atop the Tesla outside a yeshiva on Ditmas Ave. near Ocean Parkway in Kensington at about 5:50 p.m. on Monday. Hate Crimes detectives arrested Cohen on Friday evening, charging her with aggravated harassment and criminal mischief, as well as aggravated harassment and criminal mischief as hate crimes since a swastika, the symbol of the Nazi party, was left at the scene. It was not immediately disclosed how detectives identified Cohen as the vandal. Her arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court was pending. If one is convicted of a hate crime, they could be sentenced to more prison time than the standard charge calls for. Monday's vandalism was the fourth time in a month someone has vandalized a Tesla found parked on a New York City street in opposition to Musk and his role as head of the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency under President Trump, NYPD officials said. The 38-year-old owner of the Tesla Cybertruck had left his electric vehicle on a sidewalk parking spot outside the Yeshiva next to a pile of garbage bags. A few moments later, Cohen, riding a Razor kick scooter, rolled up on the Tesla, emptied one of the garbage bag's contents onto its roof and hood and then etched a swastika on a brick, which she placed on the car. Cohen, who was wearing a pink hooded jacket, blue jeans and black rainboots, rode off before the owner returned to the car. The NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force investigated the incident and released surveillance images of a suspect in the hopes someone would recognize her. Man in 'Ghost Face' sweatshirt rapes 50-year-old Queens woman at knifepoint Brooklyn man, 45, killed by gunman on scooter a block from home Queens high school teacher charged with inappropriately touching student: NYPD Pa. man charged in plot to murder Trump, Musk and ICE agents Ivana Trump's former Manhattan home surrounded by freaky graffiti Last month, on March 27, two men approached a Tesla parked on Monroe St. near Patchen Ave. in Bedford-Stuyvesant around 1 a.m. and etched the word 'Nazis' and a swastika on its side, marring a 2-inch-by-2-inch section of the passenger side door. The Tesla came equipped with a surveillance camera, which caught the vandalism, cops said. In an unrelated incident a few hours later, in Prospect Lefferts Gardens, a 39-year-old man approached his Tesla parked near the corner of Hawthorne St. and Rogers Ave. and learned someone slapped a sticker on the driver's side bumper. The sticker had a swastika and the word 'Musk' on it, police said. On March 6, a masked duo spray-painted a red swastika on a Tesla Cybertruck they found parked near the corner of Rivington and Chrystie Sts. on the Lower East Side, police said. The NYPD's Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the other three incidents. No arrests have been made. Anti-Trump administration protesters have zeroed in on Tesla electric vehicles since Musk began chain-sawing federal government spending and agency staffing as head of the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE. Critics quickly likened Musk to a Nazi after he was recorded giving what some considered to be a Nazi salute during an event for Trump last November. However, the vandalism of Teslas with swastikas and 'Nazi' scrawls has raised the question of whether these incidents are actually hate crimes or not. Musk has said he definitely feels they are. Last month, nine people were arrested during a nonviolent 'Pull the Plug on Elon Musk' protest at a Tesla dealership in Manhattan's Meatpacking District. Similar protests have erupted across the country. On the more extreme end, some Tesla vehicles and charging stations have been the target of violence and arson attacks. Pam Bondi, the U.S. attorney general, recently branded these incidents 'domestic terrorism,' vowing to throw the perpetrators 'behind bars.' Anyone with information regarding the unsolved acts of vandalism is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.

A man in a 'Ghost Face' sweatshirt from the 'Scream' horror movie franchise raped a 50-year-old woman on a secluded residential block in Queens, police said Saturday. ‘Crysis 4' development paused as Crytek lays off 15% of staff due to financial issues

Crytek, the German-based developer known for the Crysis series, has announced that the development of 'Crysis 4' has been paused. This decision comes as the studio plans to lay off approximately 15% of its workforce due to financial challenges. The layoffs are expected to impact around 60 employees from the development and shared services teams. Those affected will be offered severance packages and career assistance services. Founded by the Yerli brothers, Crytek is renowned for creating the 'Crysis' series, which debuted in 2007. The series follows a group of nanosuited soldiers battling powerful mercenaries and alien invaders called the Ceph. The fourth installment was set to be a direct sequel to 'Crysis 3' (2013), and was expected to push the limits of modern gaming hardware. However, development on 'Crysis 4' has been on hold since the third quarter of 2024. In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Crytek explained that this decision was part of ongoing efforts to ensure the studio's long-term financial sustainability. While 'Hunt: Showdown' continues to grow, the studio has faced increasing pressures to reduce costs across operations. Despite this setback, Crytek remains committed to the future of 'Hunt: Showdown,' especially following the popular addition of Ghost Face to the game's roster. Crytek's portfolio also includes other major titles such as 'Far Cry,' 'Ryse: Son of Rome,' and 'Kingdom Come: Deliverance,' the latter developed by Warhorse Studios using Crytek's proprietary CryEngine. As of 2024, Crytek is the largest game developer in Germany, with around 400 employees. In the meantime, fans can enjoy the 'Crysis Remastered Trilogy,' which includes support for Deep Learning Super Sampling on PC. Although development on 'Crysis 4' is on hold, the studio continues to work on other projects and maintains a hopeful outlook for the future. — Crytek (@Crytek)
