Morgan Wallen Field? Gibbs High School may rename baseball facility for country star alum

CORRYTON, Tenn. (WATE) — The baseball field at Gibbs High School might soon be renamed after one of the school's most famous graduates—country singer Morgan Wallen. The 2011 Gibbs graduate played baseball for the Eagles and has since become one of the most famous country music artists in the world, having won the 2024 Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year award among many other honors. If approved, the facility would be renamed 'Morgan Wallen Field.' Gibbs Principal Jason Webster submitted the nomination to district officials in October, citing Wallen's career accomplishments and numerous charitable contributions to area schools. Additionally, Webster wrote in the nomination form that Wallen would like to make a $1,200,000 donation to enhance the athletics facilities at Gibbs High School.
