The clock runs out on Mash Madness
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Time is running out if you'd like to have a say in who wins Mash Madness.
It's a busy morning at Coffea Roasterie in downtown Sioux Falls. The popular coffee spot is one of 29 businesses participating in Mash Madness, which ends with the month of March.

'It's been really enjoyable doing Mash Madness,' Coffea Roasterie co-owner Darin Kaihoi said.
Coffea joined the mix when Mash Madness expanded beyond craft beer to include craft cocktail and non-alcoholic/coffee categories.
'We love playing around with different drink combinations and coming up with fun ways to introduce coffee to people in a way that's a little bit different than the norm from how they would normally perceive it,' Kaihoi said.
Coffea's entry is the Peach Gobbler, which looks a lot like beer but is actually a clarified cold brew.
'A lot of people don't perceive coffee as something that could be carbonated and chilled and combined with floral-type of ingredients and things like that, and so it's been a really fun reaction of people just saying 'wow, this is coffee? This is crazy',' Kaihoi said.
'I'm at Coffea two, three, four times a week,' Sioux Falls resident Thadeus Giedd said.
Giedd is no stranger to caffeinated beverages.
'If it's not espresso or cappuccino, it's tea,' Giedd said.
And he's a fan of Coffea's first attempt at Mash Madness.
'Tried the Peach Gobbler and it was delicious. It's like a sour fusion hybrid and yeah it's wonderful,' Giedd said.
The drink and competition also provide a boost in sales.
'These things are always impactful and we appreciate other businesses jumping in and the community just having fun with it and getting involved,' Kaihoi said.
The Peach Gobbler will stay on the menu while supplies last.
The 'Mash Madness' champions for Craft Beer, Craft Cocktail, and Non-Alcoholic or Coffee will be announced at 10 a.m. Friday.
