Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia names new CEO
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia (GSHG) has selected its new Chief Executive Officer. Krystal Crawford succeeds longtime CEO Sue Else who recently retired after 11 years. Crawford has more than 26 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, youth development, andcommunity engagement. Most recently, she served as Chief Operating Officer of YMCA CoastalGeorgia. Crawford is a strong advocate for youth and families, having served as a Subject Matter experton childcare issues, contributing to state-level policy work. She was a member of the Governor'sGang Prevention Task Force where she championed youth programs aimed at reducing violence.'We are excited to welcome Krystal to Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia,' said Jeff Wilson, Chair of the GSHG Board of Directors. 'I'm confident she'll build on the amazing work we are already doing and help us keep making a real difference for every Girl Scout.' As CEO, Crawford will oversee council operations across 125 counties—122 in Georgia, two inSouth Carolina, and one in Alabama—serving more than 7,000 girls and nearly 4,000 adultmembers. Girl Scouts of Georgia host fundraiser to rebuild Camp Tanglewood
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia is hosting its inaugural Grits and Girl Scouts on May 1st from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. It will be held at Phinizy House located at 529 Greene Street in downtown Augusta featuring a breakfast menu curated by Augusta Tech's culinary students. The keynote speaker is Jane Jenkins Herlong, an author, Girl Scout alum and Miss South Carolina. The proceeds from this fundraising event will go to rebuild and restore the Girl Scouts' Camp Tanglewood which was severely damaged by Hurricane Helene. Grits and Girl Scouts is open to everyone in the CSRA – businesses, families, militarypersonnel, troops, and friend groups; tables can be reserved in both full (eight) and half (four)quantities, single seats are also available. Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia CEO announces retirement
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — After 11 years, the Chief Executive Officer of Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia (GSHG) announced her decision to retire on Tuesday. 'It has been an incredible honor to serve as the CEO of Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia,' said Else.'Over the years, I have been inspired by the passion, resilience, and achievements of our GirlScouts, volunteers, and staff. While this chapter is coming to a close, I will always cherish thememories we have made together. I look forward to seeing the council continue to grow andthrive in the years ahead.' Under Else's leadership, GSHG has accomplished several key initiatives like the launch of the council's first Girl Scout DreamLabs in 2024, the opening of the state-of-the-art GIRL Center in Savannah in 2021, preserving strong membership even in the challenging aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic and strengthening the council's financial stability, an official with the GSHG said. 'We are grateful for Sue's contributions to Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia,' said Jeff Wilson, chairof the GSHG Board of Directors. 'Her vision, passion, and commitment to our mission havestrengthened our council and inspired countless girls and volunteers. While we will miss herleadership, we celebrate Sue's legacy and wish her the very best.'
