'Call Her Daddy' Host Alex Cooper Just Revealed She Recently Turned Down An $8 Million Brand Deal

Back in 2018, Alex Cooper and her roommate Sofia Franklyn launched the Call Her Daddy podcast, which was quickly acquired by Barstool Sports and became a global hit. The duo soon realized that they were " making pennies compared to what the show was making for Barstool,' and in 2020, they renegotiated their business arrangement. Barstool's owner, Dave Portnoy, eventually told Alex and Sofia that if they stayed with the company for one more year, he would give them Call Her Daddy's IP — meaning that they would own the podcast's brand and show archive. Sofia did not want to go ahead with this deal, and ended up stepping away from the podcast while Alex stuck it out. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about their respective decisions back in October, Alex recalled: 'On [Sofia's] side, she was like: 'I think we could start a show called 'Girls in the Bathroom,' or whatever, 'and it will be just as good.' And I was like: 'That may be true. But in my personal opinion, I'm not giving up this IP. I don't want to start over.'' 'When [Dave] offered the IP along with not much money for one more year, I didn't give a shit about the money. I was like: 'This IP is a gold mine. I'm going to be a multimillionaire and will be set for life if I just stay one year,'' she went on. "I will never judge my ex co-host and former partner for making the decision she did, she really saw the lane of not wanting to work another year for Barstool, and I didn't, and that's business." And Alex's instincts proved to be correct; in 2021, she struck a $60-million three-year deal with Spotify, and more recently, Alex signed a $125 million contract with SiriusXM to bring Call Her Daddy to their platform. The podcast itself has also gained notoriety for its high-profile guests, which includes pretty much every celebrity that you can think of, and even Kamala Harris during her 2024 presidential campaign. And in a recent appearance on Harry Jowsey's podcast, Boyfriend Material, Alex — who now has a reported net worth of $60 million — revealed that she receives some pretty lucrative financial opportunities in the form of brand deals as a result of her success, and that she recently turned down a staggering $8 million offer because she didn't agree with what she was being asked to put her face to. In the interview, Harry asked Alex: 'What's the most money you've turned down for a brand deal and why?' to which Alex bluntly responded: 'The most money I've ever turned down for a brand deal is 8 million dollars.' Harry couldn't even try to hide his shock as he repeatedly exclaimed: 'Not it's not. Not it is not, are you fucking serious?!' 'Because it just wasn't… I didn't…' Alex began, before Harry cut her off to ask when this happened. She replied: 'This past year. I just, like, didn't believe in putting my face next to it.' 'What was it?' Harry asked, but Alex refused to tell, saying: 'I can't tell you.' She then said she stands by her decision, adding: 'I think it's important to say no to shit, because then you just lose your fucking credibility.' Boyfriend Material / Via 'And, like, the deliverables of what they wanted out of me,' she went on. 'I was just like: 'I'm not gonna fucking sell myself.'' Alex was previously asked if Sofia comes to mind amid her huge success with Call Her Daddy, with the star telling the Hollywood Reporter: "I think less about the specific person. The thought is: I'm so happy that I trusted myself and fought for this IP.' "Thank God I saw the worth of the IP and the trademarks and the catalog,' she continued. 'That's what comes to my mind. The minute I sign a new deal, every time, I text Dave Portnoy a little thank-you.'
