She's been there through thick and thin – the warm hug when you're having a bad day, the smile that brightens up your life, the wise words when you need advice, the grand dame of the family who can out-style and out-class everyone.
She's the grandmother – and YOU wants to celebrate her fabulousness with our brand new Glamorous Gran competition.
Twenty years ago we held our first glam gran competition and thousands of people entered from around the country.
Now we're once again looking for someone who personifies timeless elegance, confidence and style – whatever that means to her.
If this is you or you know someone who fits the bill, enter now!
The winner will walk away with R10 000 in cash as her very own YOU cover, a fashion spread in the magazine and more.
HOW TO ENTER
Enter your personal details or the details of the gran you're entering on our competition page on
You'll need to upload a photo with a short motivation explaining why you or the person you are entering should be our Glamorous Gran.
Entries close on 12 June 2025 after which YOU's panel will choose a shortlist of 30 entries which will later be narrowed down to a Top 10 finalists.
YOU will then contact the finalists for an interview which will be featured in both our magazine and website.
Once the Top 10 is announced the public will be able to vote for their favourite glamorous gran on YOU's online voting page on
Entrants have to be staying in South Africa and be over 50 years old with at least grandchild.
Family and friends can also enter someone they think is the most glamorous gran in South Africa.
PRIZES
- R10 000 in cash to treat herself and her loved ones
- The winner's story will appear in YOU and – and their photo will be featured on the cover of YOU!
- The winner will also get her very own, bespoke YOU cover, featuring her as the cover star
- The winner will be styled by our beauty and fashion teams and feature as a model on YOU's fashion pages.
