Fairfax County casino bill heads to House after passing Virginia's Senate
RICHMOND, Va. (DC News Now) — A bill that would allow casinos to open in Fairfax County passed the Senate Tuesday.
Senate Bill 982 passed with 24-16.
The bill created a lot of controversy, with some thinking that it was not what the county needed and others thinking that it would bring in increased revenue and more jobs.

A similar bill was introduced last year, but it was killed. This year, the bill has support from union workers and their organizations.
The bill will now have to pass in the House before it can head to Gov. Glenn Younkin's desk.
If Youngkin signs it, the bill would go to the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. If it passes there, it will be sent to a ballot referendum for county voters to weigh in on.
