Drydocks World Leads Formation of Global Green Shipyard Alliance to Drive Maritime Sustainability
Drydocks World has co-founded the Global Green Shipyard Alliance (GGSA), a new international coalition focused on accelerating sustainability in the maritime industry.
The alliance aims to fast-track clean technology adoption, improve environmental performance, and unify ESG standards across major shipyards worldwide.
As a founding member, Drydocks World will play a key role in shaping the alliance's initiatives while reinforcing Dubai's status as a hub for responsible maritime services. The GGSA brings together leading shipyards from Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, including Astilleros Shipyard Group (Spain), BREDO Dry Docks GmbH (Germany), and IMC Shipyard Services Group (Singapore, China, Thailand).
The alliance addresses urgent industry pressures to decarbonise in line with global climate targets. By fostering knowledge sharing, joint innovation, and scalable solutions, GGSA plans to advance technologies such as hybrid propulsion, energy-efficient retrofits, digital optimisation, and emissions compliance.
Captain Rado Antolovic, CEO of Drydocks World, said the alliance represents a 'shared responsibility to accelerate the maritime industry's decarbonisation journey' and a significant step toward 'delivering long-term environmental value through cleaner technologies.'
Imran Inamdar, COO at Drydocks World, added that the collaboration will raise performance standards and accelerate practical solutions from concept to implementation, supporting an effective and scalable transition for shipbuilding and retrofitting.
The GGSA follows two other major sustainability coalitions led by DP World: the Zero Emission Port Alliance and the First Movers Coalition, underscoring the growing commitment to sustainable innovation across maritime and logistics sectors.
