Two Welsh spots have been named in list of 'most beautiful beaches in UK'
You don't have to jet off on an expensive holiday to find beautiful beaches. The UK has plenty of gorgeous stretches of coastline that are right on our doorstep. This was highlighted by one travel-themed TikTok page recently. In a short clip, which has garnered 1.9 million likes, the top five beaches in the UK were named. And impressively, two of them can be found in Wales. The short clip states: "Most people know that the worst beach in the UK is probably near industrial docks or muddy coasts, so where is the most beautiful beach in the UK?" The video then proceeds to highlight the top beaches chosen – so would you visit any of these locations? Top five beaches in the UK 1. Rhossili Bay, Gower Rhossili Bay is a stunning stretch of coastline located on the southwestern tip of the Gower Peninsula in Swansea, South Wales. Renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty, Rhossili Bay is often cited among the best beaches in the UK and has received numerous accolades from travel publications and organisations. Globescribe commented: "This Welsh beach is often ranked among the best in the world. If you visit once, you'll never forget it." It also praised the "massive sandy shore, dramatic views and unforgettable sunsets". Visit Wales also touts it as a noteworthy "iconic" location boasting "dramatic, panoramic views and good walking opportunities". 2. Barafundle Bay, Pembrokeshire Barafundle Bay is a stunning, secluded beach located on the south coast of Pembrokeshire, Wales. Renowned for its golden sands and crystal-clear turquoise waters, it is often compared to beaches found in the Mediterranean and has been listed among the best beaches in the UK and even the world. The area is part of the Stackpole Estate, managed by the National Trust, and is rich in wildlife, including seabirds and wildflowers. This secluded beach requires a "walk over a cliff path to reach it". However, as the TikTok clip shows, the hike is well worth it. That's because the "hidden gem" rewards visitors with "peaceful waves" and "soft sand" that "make it feel like a private paradise". 3. Luskentyre Beach, Outer Hebrides Luskentyre Beach is one of the most stunning and celebrated beaches in Scotland, located on the west coast of the Isle of Harris in the Outer Hebrides. The beach offers sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean, backed by rolling dunes and the rugged hills of Harris, including the North Harris mountains. Frequently listed among the world's best beaches, Luskentyre is renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty, expansive white sands, and striking turquoise waters that often resemble those of the Caribbean – despite the much cooler climate! 4. Blackpool Sands, Devon Blackpool Sands is a beautiful, award-winning beach located on the South Devon coast, near the town of Dartmouth in England. Despite its name, it is not related to the more famous Blackpool in Lancashire. The viral video stated: "Don't be confused by the name - it's not in Blackpool." It doesn't overlook a tower or bright lights like its namesake, the location is actually "surrounded by green hills". It is a crescent-shaped, shingle (pebble) beach, not sand, although the pebbles are fine and comfortable for sunbathing. 5. Bournemouth Beach, Dorset Bournemouth Beach is one of the most popular and well-known beaches in the UK, located on the southern coast of England in the county of Dorset. It stretches for about 7 miles (11 km) along the English Channel, offering golden sands, clean waters, and a vibrant seaside atmosphere. In the TikTok clip, the gorgeous spot was commended for its "golden sand and clear blue water", as well as being a hit among families.
