The Denver Zoo is "Glowing Wild" this spring
A new nighttime spectacle is lighting up the Denver Zoo this spring.
The big picture: " Glowing Wild" is the zoo's first-ever immersive lantern festival, bringing larger-than-life displays to its 80-acre campus.
More than 145 handmade lantern sculptures of plants and animals will glow across the grounds.
Some are interactive, while others tower over visitors — like a 130-foot-long walk-through crocodile tunnel and a 20-foot-tall butterfly tree.
Zoom in: Many of the zoo's animals will be tucked in for the night. But staff suggest visiting the elephants, lions, giraffes and Tropical Discovery exhibit to spot some animals in action.
What to try: Visitors can order from a new food menu that includes banh mi sliders and piri piri chicken tenders.
If you go: Tickets are required. General admission starts at $26 for adults and $19 for youth. Kids 2 and younger get in free.
The event runs select nights through May 4.
Adult Nights on April 1 and May 3 offer a 21+ experience with a drink ticket, exclusive menu, live music, silent disco and animal demonstrations.
