The BBC One Daytime hit became the highest-rating unscripted show in its slot over the past year. Now, Helen and her crack team of divers, detectorists and magnet fishers are gearing up for another round of heartwarming hunts, as they dig deep (literally) to recover treasured possessions feared lost forever. Filming for the 16-part series kicks off in late May and promises more drama, emotion and some jaw-dropping finds - all set against the stunning backdrop of the Lakes. In series one, the team recovered everything from smart watches and phones to a drone sunk 35 metres at the bottom of Lake Windermere. But it wasn't just any drone - it held unseen wedding photos belonging to newlyweds Alex and Mary, who were desperate to get their big day memories back. After one failed mission, the team struck gold on the second attempt - bringing tears, hugs and one seriously grateful couple. The series also features a social media detective, Mui, who creates viral campaigns to track down owners - helping return GoPros to young carers in Blackpool and tech to wild swimmers and families. And if they can't reunite the items? Local craftspeople step in to give them an incredible new lease of life. Watch as Morning Live stars meet up away from the studio - as show remains off air Lost and found never looked so good. Helen said: 'I am thrilled to be returning to my home in the Lake District for a second series of Lost and Found in the Lakes. "I had a fantastic experience returning lost treasures to their owners and I cannot wait to get back to it!' Meanwhile, Gethin Jones hinted at a close relationship with Helen Skelton in a gushing interview - saying he "would always be there for her". Who hosts BBC Morning Live? Morning Live has been a staple of BBC One's daytime schedule offering for the last four years and airs directly after BBC Breakfast each weekday at 9.30am. But who presents the show? Gethin Jones Helen Skelton Michelle Ackerley Kym Marsh Sara Cox Gaby Roslin Rav Wilding Kimberley Walsh The Sun revealed that the Morning Live stars had grown 'close' off-screen with insiders suggesting "their friendship has blossomed into a deeper connection". The pair fuelled romance rumours as they cuddled up together on his motorbike. They went for breakfast in Manchester before making a quick exit on hunky Gethin's bike. Helen looked like a 70s rock chick in a brown leather jacket and flared jeans, while Gethin kept things simple in a navy jumper. She beamed before climbing behind Gethin and wrapping her arms around his waist. Gethin added to the rumours recently when he called Helen "superwoman" in an Instagram post following their 24 hour non-stop roller-skating marathon for Comic Relief. It is understood the pair have been spending an increasing amount of time together outside of the studio. A source told MailOnline: "Helen and Gethin have an extremely close working relationship and there's a feeling in recent months their friendship has blossomed into a deeper connection. "They're both keen to keep a lid on it to avoid public scrutiny but there's no denying their closeness both on and off screen." They were pictured looking close at the Baftas and, last year, were spotted at a charity ball set up by the late rugby league star Rob Burrow's sisters. A source said: "It was very clear that Helen and Gethin were together as a couple at the event. "They were with close friends of Helen's and their connection was undeniable." The insider continued: "Helen and Gethin have been able to attend events together without much fanfare purely because they're work colleagues... but anyone who has seen them at these bashes will testify they look extremely cosy." Helen's husband, rugby ace Richie Myler left her for Stephanie Thirkill in 2022. The Strictly star faced further heartbreak when her rugby player ex went on to have two children with his new love. Gethin, who has previously dated former Towie star Lucy Mecklenburgh and was engaged to mezzo-soprano singer Katherine Jenkins, recently revealed that he's had little success on the dating scene. He said he was struck off the popular dating app Hinge because women didn't believe his profile was really him. Helen Skelton 'thrilled' to return to Lake District BBC show

Series one of Lost and Found in the Lakes was BBC One's highest-rated unscripted show in its slot in the past year. The series starts filming late May, captures the drama and suspense of uncovering the lost items, as well as talking to the people who have an emotional connection to both the area and the items lost. So…. Marathon weekend crept up….. if you are able to donate i would be grateful … If you fancy running here is a free trial.. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ — Helen Skelton (@HelenSkelton) April 25, 2025 Throughout the series, Helen will work with a team of experts from divers to detectorists and magnet fishers to track down all manner of lost items that are scattered around the lakebeds and forests of this stunning location. They'll take what they find back to base, either to reunite them with their delighted owners or to start the process of working out who the items might belong to. To do this, they enlist the help of a specialist social media detective, who will create online campaigns to help reunite owners with their lost possessions. Some of the unclaimed items will be given an extraordinary and sometimes ingenious new lease of life by one of the area's talented craftspeople. In the first series, which debuted in January 2025, the scuba team took on two searches to rescue a drone, sunk 35 meters down at the bottom of Lake Windermere. And this wasn't any drone - it contained unseen photographs from the wedding day of Alex and Mary - young newlyweds who were desperate to get the memories from their big day back. Despite an unsuccessful first search, on their second attempt, the scuba team successfully found the drone and were able to recover and reunite Alex and Mary with their irreplaceable wedding photographs. Social Media Detective Mui was hugely successful across series one, returning numerous smart watches to wild swimmers and families, GoPros to a charity for young carers in Blackpool and several phones that had sunk to the bottom of Bassenthwaite Lake. Helen Skelton says: 'I am thrilled to be returning to my home in the Lake District for a second series of Lost and Found in the Lakes. I had a fantastic experience returning lost treasures to their owners and I cannot wait to get back to it!' Zoe Thorman, Executive Producer at Tŷ'r Ddraig commented: 'We are extremely pleased that Lost and Found in the Lakes has been recommissioned for a second series. I am excited to get back to the Lakes to start recovering more items with our talented team of experts.' Recommended reading: Ben Smith, Creative Director at Tŷ'r Ddraig, says: 'We are so proud of the success of our first series, which was a joy to put together - witnessing so many people reunited with the precious items they thought they'd never see again. We can't wait to go again this summer, capturing even more jaw-dropping and emotional moments." Alex McLeod, BBC Daytime Commissioning Editor, added: 'The first series of Lost and Found in the Lakes was a big hit with viewers, thanks to its irresistible mix of drama, emotion, and beautiful scenery. We're thrilled to be bringing it back for a second series and can't wait to see what finds the team will discover next.' Lost and Found in the Lakes is commissioned for BBC One Daytime and iPlayer by Rob Unsworth, Head of BBC Daytime and Early Peak Commissioning, the Commissioning Editor is Alex McLeod. The programme is made by Tŷ'r Ddraig, the Executive Producer is Zoe Thorman, and the Creative Director is Ben Smith. Lost and Found in the Lakes will return to BBC One and BBC iPlayer in 2026.

Man jumped out of car near beach after family outing - and was never seen again

Ashley Wilbraham, 38, was on a family outing to Ceredigion in Wales when he went in search of his 15-year-old son who had run off following an argument - he hasn't been seen since A man who jumped out from a car and ran onto a beach in search of his son has been missing for two months, but his family refuse to give up hope he will be found. Ashley Wilbraham had been to the pub in Ceredigion, Wales, with his teenage son to watch a Liverpool game and later called his mother to pick them both up from a bus stop. By the time the family arrived to get them his son was nowhere to be found after a minor disagreement and had run towards the beach. They drove away with Ashley, 38, in a 'distraught' state, and when they got to the beach he ran up the sand dunes to find his son. ‌ ‌ The boy, 15, was found almost immediately, but Ashley has not been seen since. The police were called and began a search immediately, which was severely hampered by the severity of the conditions which kept the helicopters grounded and the lifeboat unable to launch. Ashley was last seen at around 6.45pm on February 23 at Ynyslas Beach and now, two months on, his family say they have not given up hope of finding him. Ashley's mother Janine told WalesOnline: 'Ashley is honestly the friendliest person. He made friends with everyone he met, he would open doors for people—that's just the way he was. 'Ashley is a very happy person. He had a lot to look forward to—he was excited about going to the Crufts Dog Fair the following week, his daughter's 14th birthday was just around the corner, and we were planning a holiday to Ireland in May. 'He had even talked about learning to cook steak for his father. There was no indication of any mental health issues. Of course he would get stressed from time to time, but it was nothing out of the ordinary. 'When my sister found Ashley at the bus stop, he was absolutely distraught. He jumped into the car to go looking for his son, but my sister was unfamiliar with the beach and didn't take the right turning. ‌ 'As they drove further away from the beach, Ashley became more and more upset. It was like a psychotic episode—he wasn't himself. He jumped out of the car and started running up the dunes trying to find his son. 'The community can't get over it. We can't get over it. We have no answers." Following his disappearance, Dyfed-Powys Police asked residents to check nearby buildings. In a statement, they said: "Police are asking residents to check their outbuildings, such as garages and sheds, as well as any vacant caravans in the area, in case Ashley has sought shelter. "We are also asking the public to be extra vigilant and report any abandoned clothing to police to determine whether it belongs to Ashley, and to check and review CCTV cameras, ring video doorbells, GoPros, dash cam footage, or any other source of video imagery that may capture Ashley in and around the area." A spokesperson from Dyfed-Powys Police added: "We are continuing with enquiries into the whereabouts of Ashley and would appeal for anyone who has seen Ashley or anyone with information to come forward. "Police can be contacted either online at: Contact us by emailing 101@ or by calling 101. If you are deaf, hard of hearing, or speech impaired text the non-emergency number on 07811 311 908. Quote reference: 369 of the 23rd February."

Bryde's whale sighted in Musandam for first time

Musandam – A Bryde's whale has been recorded for the first time in Musandam in what Environment Authority (EA) has described as a significant step in Oman's marine conservation efforts. The sighting was made during fieldwork by specialists from the Marine Mammal Species Survey Project, which has been underway in phases since 2023. The whale was spotted with a calf in the waters of Khawr Najd. A video released by EA showed the animal surfacing, offering a rare glimpse of the elusive species in the region. The observation took place during the project's fifth phase currently being conducted in Khasab from April 13 to 24. Bryde's whales (Balaenoptera edeni) have previously been sighted, including with calves, in the Gulf of Masirah and Muscat, but never before in Musandam. The new sighting contributes to efforts aimed at mapping marine life in Musandam National Nature Reserve, a key part of Oman's long-term biodiversity strategy. Aida bint Khalaf al Jabriya, who heads the project, said the discovery enhances understanding of lesser-known marine species in the sultanate. 'This survey represents a pioneering effort that integrates fieldwork with scientific research,' she said. 'It contributes to the creation of a national database that enhances Oman's commitment to protecting marine life and ensuring sustainability for future generations.' Distinguished by three ridges on the top of the head, Bryde's whales are typically found in warmer waters. These feed mainly on small fish and plankton, using a 'surge and swallow' technique, and are usually seen alone or in small groups. These characteristics make confirmed sightings particularly valuable for researchers. Aida informed that her team uses a combination of visual monitoring and digital tools to record sightings. 'Our team conducts visual monitoring using binoculars and the naked eye, searching for signs such as surface disturbances or bird behaviour indicating fish presence.' Observations are recorded using a custom-built application called Spinner, supported by high-resolution cameras, drones and GoPros. 'Each sighting is documented with species data, group size, behaviour, time and precise location,' Aida added. 'We also gather environmental data including water depth, wind speed, and marine mammal vocalisations to enrich our understanding and support scientific research.' Since the start of the survey, 38 marine mammal sightings have been logged in Musandam, including Indo-Pacific humpback dolphins, spinner dolphins, long-beaked common dolphins and pantropical spotted dolphins. Humpback dolphins were mostly recorded in the western parts of the reserve, while larger groups of other species were seen in areas like Ras Shas, Khasab and Khawr Najd. The findings underline the ecological importance of Musandam's coastal waters and reinforce calls for continued monitoring and conservation to protect Oman's marine biodiversity.
