Kyogo future tackled head on as Celtic await 'likely' Balikwisha exit and Hatate price tag 'named'
The Scottish champions are facing a busy summer as they prepare to defend their Premiership crown Stade Rennes' chairman Arnaud Pouille insists there is "no opposition" to Kyogo Furuhashi being included in the squad for next season. The comments come amid reports that the former Celtic star will be left out of Habib Beye's 25-man unit that he takes into pre-season. The frontman made his £10million move to Ligue 1 in January when boss Jorge Sampoali was at the helm - with sporting director Frederic Massara negotiating the deal. But since the departure of both allies for the Japan international, the 30-year-old struggled to even make the matchday squad in the final weeks of the season - and has yet to find the net for his new club. Amid reports that Premier League side Bournemouth are considering a bid for the misfit, Pouille told Ouest-France that there was no issues over the striker's long-term future. He said: 'Kyogo was an element on which Frederic and Jorge agreed, we discussed him with Habib around January 27 or 28, if I remember correctly, and there was no opposition from Habib to integrate him into the squad. 'Afterwards, there was a system of competition. In one of his first matches, he got injured and then his place was taken by the emergence of Kader Meite, which remains good news for Stade Rennes.' Elsewhere, reports in Belgium suggest that Royal Antwerp expect winger Michel-Ange Balikwisha to leave this summer. Celtic have long been admirers of a £6million-rated wide man who has earned rave reviews - after chipping in with two goals and four assists in the final five games of the campaign. Voetbal Primeur state a departure is now "likely" with Antwerp looking to bring in €30million (£25million) to provide "economic breathing space' for the club. In terms of outgoings, Celtic hero Peter Grant reckons the club would accept a price of £10million for Reo Hatate this summer. The 27-year-old has been a key figure in the Celtic engine room with Udinese among the club said to be showing an interest - with Brazil icon Zico pitching his former side to the Hoops' star. Grant told the Go Radio Football Show: 'If Celtic get £10 million for Reo Hatate, then they would sell him. "I don't mean that disrespectfully, because they will look at it and think, 27-28 years of age. They will think, 'okay, that's good money at that age'. That's just not Celtic. I think that's good value, in the respect of that. I think Brendan is very much aware of that. 'They know the areas they want. 100 per cent, they know exactly what they want, at this moment in time. Even before the (Scottish) cup final.' Greg Taylor's unseen Celtic contract power floated as Kieran Tierney leaves Arsenal icon with transfer regret
Taylor is set to play his final game for the Hoops in the Scottish Cup Final - unless a new agreement can be reached John Hartson reckons Greg Taylor could be "bargaining" for a better deal at Celtic as his contract ticks down. The 27-year-old is in the final weeks of his current contract with Kieran Tierney returning to Celtic this summer from Arsenal. The Scottish Cup final clash with Aberdeen could be his last appearance for the Hoops - despite Brendan Rodgers openly admitting he would like Taylor to remain with the Premiership champions. With talks still ongoing, Hartson reckons that the Scotland international may have a rival bid on the table going into the final game of the season. The Welshman told the Go Radio Football Show: "He has the opportunity to leave on a free. "I think initially the first offer that has been made - off the back of Brendan Rodgers saying how much he would like Greg Taylor to stay - on the back of Brendan's praise, I think there has been an improved offer. "I think it's now up to Greg and his representatives to think of his future. "He will never find a club with the adulation and what Celtic actually gives you - the Champions League, trophies - I don't think he will get anywhere bigger than that. But I think also there is the financial situation. "I think he will get more money to leave on a free, in my opinion. I think Celtic feel they have done everything in their power to keep Greg Taylor. Now i's down to the boy and his representatives. "For all we know, there is an offer on the table from another club, and he might be bargaining right now. "We don't know - these things go on - and this offer is a million miles better than what Celtic can give him. Then, he is thinking about the football side of it." Ahead of his return to Glasgow's east end, Tierney had an emotional end to his time in North London with the Emirates giving the defender a huge ovation with the stadium singing his name. And while Arsenal legend Martin Keown has backed Mikel Arteta's call to allow the Scotland star to leave - he admits he wishes he could have helped Tierney more during his Premier League stint. He told talkSPORT: 'As a former player, you are a bit arms length. 'I would like to have helped more. He is somebody who I could see that worth ethic that he had. That desire in his play. I think that's been rewarded. 'It has been five or six seasons that he has been at the football club. It was clear that Arteta wanted to go in a different direction, and a different type of fullback to invert, and he wants to get down that line. 'In recent weeks, he has had a lot of games where he has come off the bench, and the manager could have chosen others, but he has looked to Kieran to bring on. "That's testament to him really. He is the sort of person you want in the building. 'But he (Arteta) is letting him (Tierney) go. I can see sense in that. But I think he can hold his head up high. The fans have always loved him, as they will do. It's typical of the Arsenal fans. If you are 100 per cent. They will get right in your corner."

Ferguson urged the Rangers' hierarchy to 'make a decision soon' earlier in the month, whilst also admitting he was interested in the job. It was revealed on Sunday that the Rangers hall-of-famer was out of the running for the permanent position at Ibrox. It was revealed last night on the Go Radio Football Show that since the news, Ferguson has felt empty. Craig Moore revealed: 'Look, I did manage to get a hold of Barry yesterday once I heard the breaking news. And it's fair to say he was disappointed. He felt very empty. 'Because he felt that he could do a real job. He had a real clear vision of what he could do and what needed to be done. But by all accounts, the decision makers at Rangers want to go down a more experienced path. 'So, it will be interesting to see what that is in terms of who that particular person is. I think the one word that maybe I still don't think that the new people, they still think that Rangers is a project. And Barry was very clear, as I am and I'm sure a lot of Rangers supporters are, Glasgow Rangers is not a project club. 'It's a club about getting a team that can go and win trophies. So, it would be interesting to see who the person is going to be, how well they hit the ground, you must hit the ground running. As great a club as Rangers Football Club are in terms of their support. 'If it doesn't start well next season, that support will fade and fade very quickly in my opinion.' Ferguson won six of the 15 games he oversaw at Rangers, one of which seen his side win at Celtic Park against the Hoops for the first time since 2020. Robert Grieve & Bill Leckie have the very latest on the Rangers manager situation as Steven Gerrard & Russell Martin emerge as front-runners Steven Gerrard is heavily rumoured to take over from Ferguson, with Betfair suspending betting on the former Liverpool captain making a spectacular return to Ibrox. Steven Gerrard Rangers return odds slashed as insiders share next boss demand
Craig Moore has been chatting with Barry Ferguson following his departure from Ibrox and reckons the next Rangers manager will be seasoned and British. The buzz around Steven Gerrard's potential return to the club has reached fever pitch with the odds on a comeback shortening considerably for the Liverpool legend. Following the conclusion of the Scottish Premiership season, Ferguson ended his brief spell in charge at Rangers on Sunday - although Patrick Stewart, the CEO, stated that the hunt for Philippe Clement's successor is well advanced. Ownership changes are on the horizon for the Gers, as 49ers Enterprises along with Andrew Cavenagh are set to seize control imminently, and Moore believes that the decision on the new gaffer has already been made. After the news broke of his interim role finishing up, Moore didn't hang about in giving his former teammate a bell, reports the Daily Record. Speaking to the Go Radio Football Show, he shared: "I did manage to get a hold of Barry once I heard the breaking news, and it's fair to say he was disappointed." His emotions were raw as Ferguson felt gutted because he believed he had what it took to make an impact at the club. Moore relayed Ferguson's sentiments: "He felt very empty, because he felt he could do a real job there." Barry had a clear-cut vision for the club's future, according to Moore, but "He felt he had a real clear vision of what he could do and what needed to be done, but by all accounts the decision-makers at Rangers want to go down a more experienced path." Moore is eager to see who will step into the managerial spotlight, hinting at some disconnect between the new leadership's view of the club and the fans': "So, it will be interesting to see who that particular person is. The one word that maybe I still don't think the new people get - they still think Rangers is a project." Rangers supporter or not, Moore echoes the sentiment held by many including Ferguson: "And Barry was very clear, as I am and I'm sure a lot of Rangers supporters are, Rangers is not a project club. "It's about getting a club that can go and win trophies. It will be interesting to see who the person is going to be, they must hit the ground running. "As great a club as Rangers are in terms of their support, if it doesn't start well the support will fade, and fade very quickly in my opinion. "I think the club will now be put under huge pressure to announce a coach, because Barry has been in three months - they have not made a decision on Sunday. "Again, I think it's fair for the supporters (to ask), who is the coach? You need to actually let people know - because there has to be some kind of understanding or excitement of what you are coming back to in the off-season." Davide Ancelotti is among the frontrunners for the vacancy - but is expected to link up with dad Carlo at Brazil when he leaves Real Madrid for just two games. But Moore reckons that goes against what he has heard about who will be appointed - with Gerrard's name on the agenda after lifting the title in 2021. Asked about the prospect of Ancelotti Jr. and his "experience" in Madrid, the Australian said: "But not as a head coach. He has zero experience. That doesn't fit the criteria. "It's a hard job to do from Rio, isn't it? But Gerrard's odds have been slashed again because he had the success, therefore you can say he has the experience. "He is a name that has never really disappeared. Another one with the Everton link (to new sporting director Kevin Thelwell) is Dyche. "So, just from the information that we are getting it's experience, experience, experience. For me it will be a British coach. For me, the club need to make an announcement and they need to make it quick-smart."

Rangers insider reveals what he's learned about 49ers after chat with Barry Ferguson as he admits ‘they don't get it'
A SOURCE close to Barry Ferguson has revealed what the future of the Ibrox dugout might hold, as he's heard Fergie's post-departure thoughts. The club confirmed yesterday the interim gaffer wouldn't be in the running for the job on a permanent basis. 3 Craig Moore is a Rangers hero, playing there for almost a decade across two spells Credit: Steve Welsh 3 He was a teammate of now-former interim boss Barry Ferguson Credit: Kenny Ramsay 3 Moore's had a chat with Fergie since his departure Credit: Alamy Steven Gerrard looks the favourite to become manager again but a list of other names are still in the frame. But Ferguson's former Gers teammate Craig Moore says since speaking to him, there's some he believes won't fit the bill. Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show, where Ferguson also used to be a regular, he said: "I did manage to get a hold of Barry once I heard the breaking news, and it's fair to say he was disappointed. Rating Barry Ferguson's chances of landing Rangers manager job long-term "Again, I think it's fair for the supporters (to ask), who is the coach? You need to actually let people know - because there has to be some kind of understanding or excitement of what you are coming back to in the off-season." The previous frontrunner Davide Ancelotti seemed all but confirmed but things changed very quickly. The Real Madrid assistant is reportedly going to once again follow his father Carlo to the Brazil job, as he did at a number of elite clubs. But the Australian ex-defender again harks back to the need for someone with a stronger CV, saying: "Not as a head coach. He has zero experience. That doesn't fit the criteria. "It's a hard job to do from Rio, isn't it? But Gerrard's odds have been slashed again because he had the success, therefore you can say he has the experience.
