Govt on Tuesday set a target to install 21,200 rooftop solar systems by 2027 to generate 65 MW of clean, green energy. Chief minister

'Install 21,200 rooftop solar systems by 2027, generate 65 MW of clean, green energy, and reach out to the poor and middle-class families, ensuring affordable and sustainable energy for all,' Sawant told officers.

oa's performance in PM-SGMBY is steadily progressing with over 4,700 feasibility approvals and installations generating 7.34 MW of solar power. Govt released subsidies amounting to Rs 4.2 crores.
During the discussion, Sawant directed the fast-tracking of onboarding contractors with 25-year maintenance commitments. 'Promoting large-scale rooftop solar adoption in new and existing buildings, including hotels, govt offices, and residential complexes, and phasing out older schemes like the Goa Vinamulya Vidyut Yojana (GVVYJ), integrating it under PM-SGMBY, and emphasising mandatory rooftop solar installations for specific sectors,' Sawant said.
He said that this transformative initiative under PM-SGMBY reaffirms the commitment of govt towards clean energy, sustainability, and net zero carbon goals.
