Amid rumours of rift, Unni Mukundan shares screengrab of chat with Tovino Thomas
This week has been quite trying for Unni Mukundan, who has been accused by former PR manager Vipin Kumar of physical and verbal assault. Even worse, the manager alleged in the police complaint against Unni that the altercation took place over him praising Tovino Thomas' latest film Narivetta on his social media. Unni has, however, made it clear that all is well between him and Tovino. (Also Read: Unni Mukundan denies assaulting former PR; claims it's 'propaganda' to harm friendship with Tovino Thomas) After the news broke, many wondered if things weren't going well between Unni and Tovino. Unni put those rumours to rest with a screenshot of his WhatsApp chat with Tovino. Tovino seemingly sent Unni a 10-second voice note, to which Unni reacted with a GIF. The rest of the chat is of the duo reacting with Mohanlal and Mammootty GIFs to each other. Tovino has yet to react to the issue publicly,y and he's busy promoting his latest release Narivetta on social media. Unni and Tovino have known each other for years now and have been supportive of each other's work. After the police complaint was filed against Unni, he denied any wrongdoing. In a post on Facebook, the actor even claimed that Vipin tried to 'steal credit' for the success of Marco. 'It has come to my notice that many of the problems that adversely affect my job are caused by this person. I'm starting to get many complaints from new and famous film directors and producers for gossip and meaningless talk against Vipin,' he wrote, adding, 'He spread inhuman rumours about me. Contacted an actress and asked her to marry me. This led to a big fight between him and me.' Unni also claimed that he was an 'easy target', alleging those unhappy with him are using Vipin to threaten his career. Vipin filed a police complaint against Unni at the Info Park police station in Kochi, alleging that the actor beat him up and verbally abused him. He spoke to the media afterwards and claimed that Unni had asked him to come to the parking lot of his building on Monday, where he was assaulted. The FIR states that Unni hit Vipin in the face, damaged his sunglasses and threatened to kill him. He also alleged that the actor was 'frustrated' he wasn't getting 'good films after Marco' and was showing that frustration on others. He also claimed that Gokulam Movies backed out of the project that Unni was to direct.

Actor Unni Mukundan booked for alleged assault on former manager Vipin Kumar
KOCHI: Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan has been booked in an alleged assault case following a complaint filed by his former professional manager, Vipin Kumar. The Infopark Police registered the case on Tuesday based on the complaint, which alleges that the actor physically assaulted Vipin and used abusive language after the manager praised another film on social media. Vipin Kumar, who has worked as Unni Mukundan's manager for the past six years, said the incident took place in the parking area of a DLF apartment complex in Kakkanad. 'He asked me to come down to the parking area where he assaulted me after using cuss words,' Vipin told a regional TV channel. Vipin also said that the altercation was triggered by his social media post in support of the film 'Narivetta', which stars actor Tovino Thomas. 'He has been frustrated. After 'Marco', he has not received any good offers. Then, a movie which he had planned to direct got a setback after Gokulam Movies withdrew from producing the film,' he said. Meanwhile, actor Unni Mukundan shared a detailed statement with Manorama Online stating that no physical harm was done during the confrontation and called the accusations completely baseless. In his statement, Unni Mukundan admitted that he did break Vipin's sunglasses as he was furious during the confrontation. He claimed that the manager appeared nervous and avoided eye contact when asked to explain his actions. The 'Marco' actor said he requested Vipin to remove his sunglasses so they could talk directly. However, he insisted that there was no act of violence beyond this. He added that people were present during the entire incident and that the area was under camera surveillance. He also said that Vipin apologised in front of Vishnu and that he ended their professional relationship on the spot. Unni shared that he had asked Vipin to return access to his digital accounts and submit a written apology. He said, "He's now in damage control mode, trying to cover up his mistakes by making childish accusations." The actor has also dismissed rumours suggesting he had a problem with Tovino Thomas or the film 'Narivetta'. He called those claims "propaganda" aimed at damaging both his and the latter's reputations. Unni said he had personally called Tovino to clear the air and that their friendship remains unaffected. He said, "I personally called Tovino and explained everything — he understood the situation. We've been friends since we entered the industry and share a strong bond. Tovino was someone who celebrated the success of 'Marco' with me. No false rumour can destroy that friendship." Sajeev Kumar, the Station House Officer of Infopark Police Station, confirmed that a case has been registered against Unni Mukundan under multiple sections, including voluntarily causing hurt, wrongful restraint, criminal intimidation, and obscene acts. He added that further investigation is underway and the actor will be summoned for a statement.

Unni Mukundan denies assaulting former PR; claims it's ‘propaganda' to harm friendship with Tovino Thomas
Ever since news broke on Monday evening that a police complaint was filed against actor Unni Mukundan by his former PR manager, Vipin Kumar, for alleged physical and verbal assault, the two have indulged in a he-said-he-said while talking to the media. After the manager claimed that Unni allegedly beat him up for praising Tovino Thomas' film, the actor denied all claims. (Also Read: Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan accused of beating up manager; police complaint filed) After filing a police complaint with the Info Park police in Kochi, Vipin spoke to the media and said, according to India Today. 'I did promotions for Tovino Thomas' Narivetta. I had posted praising the film, which Unni didn't like. He called me that night and asked me to stop working for him. I said okay.' Vipin then claimed that Unni had asked him to come to the parking lot of his building on Monday, where he was assaulted. The FIR states that Unni hit Vipin in the face, damaged his sunglasses and threatened to kill him. 'He beat me up after abusing me…I worked with him for six years. I am a PR consultant and work with other actors, he knows that. He's frustrated that he didn't get good films after Marco. Even Get Set Baby failed at the box office. He was supposed to direct a film, but Gokulam Movies withdrew. He is showing that frustration on the people around him. None of them are with him now. Even I have my limits,' claimed Vipin. According to TNM, police have filed charges against Unni under sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 296(b) (uttering obscene songs, ballads, or words in a public place), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), 324(4) and 324(5) (causing loss or damage) of Bhariya Nayay Sanhitha (BNS). Vipin also filed a complaint against Unni with FEFKA (Film Employees Federation of Kerala) and AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artists). Unni spoke to Manorama Online and denied all allegations of assault levied against him by Vipin, including that a confrontation took place over Tovino. He admitted that he visited Vipin's flat in Kochi with a mutual friend, Vishnu Unnithan, and claimed their conversation took place in a CCTV-monitored area. The actor claimed that the manager was trying to 'tarnish his reputation' and that he had confronted him about that. 'Yes, I removed and broke his sunglasses, but I did not engage in any act that could be called physical assault,' said Unni, adding that this was 'propaganda meant to harm (him) and Tovino Thomas.' 'I personally called Tovino and explained the situation. We've been friends since we entered the industry and share a strong bond. No false rumour can destroy that friendship,' he added. Unni also claimed to be 'shocked and saddened' by how someone who worked with him for years would turn against him. Unni also claimed that he asked Vipin to write an apology and return the passwords to his accounts. He also claims that the former PR manager was 'blackmailing' him and stealing 'credit' during Marco promotions. Unni alleged that there are numerous complaints against Vipin in the film industry, including one by a female actor to the ICC. Meanwhile, Tovino has not addressed the issue and is busy promoting his recent release Narivetta on social media.
