Exciting year for local business which is enjoying a huge slice of the action
Westhoughton-based Stateside Foods is celebrating the opening of its new Icebird pizza manufacturing facility - billed as a major milestone for the company.
Colleagues, partners, and special guests enjoyed an unforgettable day, with the then Mayor of Bolton and now deputy mayor, Cllr Andrew Morgan, officially cutting the ribbon.
A spokesman for the company said: "We were honoured to welcome leaders from our parent company, Freiberger Lebensmittel GmbH, and their parent company, Südzucker, who travelled from Germany to share in the occasion.

"The Jager Maestros brass band brought energy and excitement, and we ended the day with a rooftop toast — a fitting tribute to the future of food innovation and shared success."

That same spirit of innovation and dedication was recently recognised when Stateside Foods won the ESG Excellence Award at the Food Manufacture Excellence Awards 2025.
The spokesman added: "This prestigious award reflects our deep commitment to embedding sustainability into every aspect of our operations.
"With strong contenders like Britvic, Dunbia UK, Marshfield Farm Ice Cream, Pilgrim's Europe, and Raynor Foods in the running, the recognition is a proud testament to the hard work, passion, and collaboration of every team across our business. Sustainability at Stateside is not driven by a few — it's a shared responsibility, achieved through the collective efforts of all our people."

The firm's commitment to excellence was further recognised as Stateside Foods proudly retained its Gold Investors in People award — "a significant achievement that reflects our ongoing commitment to people development, strong leadership, and a positive workplace culture".
In the highly competitive food and drink manufacturing sector, this recognition is said to be especially meaningful.
As a business with over 1,200 employees, the assessment process involved in-depth surveys and interviews across all levels of the organisation. The feedback highlighted its continued efforts to foster engagement, support personal growth, and ensure that every individual feels valued and empowered.
The spokesman said: "Achieving Gold status is no small feat — only a small percentage of organisations reach this level. Retaining it demonstrates that our people strategy is not only effective but also sustainable, even as we continue to grow and evolve.
"At Stateside Foods, we believe that investing in our people is key to our long-term success. This award is a powerful endorsement of our culture and a shared success for every team member who helps make Stateside a great place to work.
"We're very proud to support The Bolton New Business Awards, celebrating and championing like-minded organisations that go the extra mile to make a positive impact in their communities and industries."
