Over 30,000 cigarettes and tobacco seized in Co Offaly
Over 30,000 cigarettes and 2.4kg of tobacco has been seized, following searches of two premises in Co Offaly. Revenue officers carried out the searches as part of ongoing operations targetting what they called the "shadow economy and the supply and sale of illicit tobacco products". Revenue say the 34,160 cigarettes branded Marlboro, Winston, Rothmans and Gold Virginia have an estimated retail value of over €32,900, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €25,900. They have asked that if businesses or members of the public have any information regarding smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on free phone number 1800 295 295.

Today at 09:27 Revenue officers seized 34,160 cigarettes and 2.4kg of tobacco following searches, under warrant, of two premises in Co. Offaly. The illicit tobacco products seized yesterday, Tuesday, June, 10 have an estimated retail value of over €32,900, including brands Marlboro, Winston, Rothmans, and Gold Virginia. The products represent a potential loss to the exchequer of approximately €25,900, according to Revenue officers. Investigations remain ongoing.
