Colorado, Deion Sanders hosting No. 1 transfer portal running back

Colorado, Deion Sanders hosting No. 1 transfer portal running back After Colorado's spring game, head coach Deion Sanders made it clear that he wanted to continue adding pieces to the team including, at least two more running backs from the transfer portal. The Buffaloes' are taking a significant step toward filling that gap by hosting former Cal running back Jaivian Thomas on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to On3Sports. Thomas was the Golden Bears' leading rusher while splitting touches with now-Oklahoma running back Jayden Ott last season. In his sophomore season, the Oakland, Calif. native posted 626 yards and seven touchdowns on 100 carries. Throughout last season, Thomas routinely showed the ability to generate big plays, having four of the Golden Bears' five longest rushes and a 56-yard receiving touchdown. In his lone start, he demolished San Diego State for 169 yards on 17 attempts. The addition of Thomas would be significant for a Buffaloes' team that just lost their leading rusher from last season, Isaiah Augustave, to Virginia. Colorado struggled mightily to run the ball last year, averaging just 2.5 yards per attempt and not breaking 1,000 yards total as a team. Already on the roster, Dallan Hayden was one of the standouts of the spring game. On only four rushes, Hayden ran for 29 yards, the most of any Buffalo on the day. If Sanders does want to add more flash to the running game, there isn't a better fit in the portal than Thomas who is currently regarded as the top running back in the portal. Nebraska wide receiver Nyziah Hunter ready to contribute this fall

Nebraska wide receiver Nyziah Hunter ready to contribute this fall Nebraska football receiver Nyziah Hunter had positive things to say about the program's brand as he met with the media on Thursday afternoon. Hunter is coming over from the California Golden Bears, where he had a solid freshman season. He recorded 40 catches for 578 yards and five touchdowns last season, establishing himself as a playmaking threat. He recorded at least four receptions in six games in 2024 and was a key piece of the Golden Bears' offense. He will look to serve a similar role with the Huskers. He joins a wide receiver room loaded with talent and figures to be part of the equation. Offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen had positive things to say about entire wide receivers room but believes there's still a lot of room to grow. When talking to the media on Thursday, Holgorsen said that Hunter is a strong and physical football player but also has deceptive speed. "You could see that on video when we recruited him. He would make contested catches. He would run through, break tackles. He's a physical guy. He's 205 pounds and it plays physical. I've coached 210-pound guys that don't play physical. Nyziah does. He's got above average speed. He got behind a corner on a go route here, which I haven't seen that since I've been here. As a wideout just actually running by somebody and catching it over his shoulder. That was encouraging." Hunter understands the importance of playing for the Huskers and what the brand means, as transcribed by the Omaha World-Herald's Sam McKewon. "Nebraska, the brand, will get you to the league." Hunter's playmaking ability and deep threat potential will certainly be fun to watch in the fall. The fact that he knows the importance of playing for the Huskers makes it that much more exciting.
