1 restaurant closed, live roach seen on counter in Fort Worth health inspections
One Fort Worth restaurant was temporarily closed and two more were noted to have issues with rodents or roaches, according to the most recent round of health inspections.
The report compiled by the Star-Telegram from city records contains data from May 18-May 31 and 120 inspections.
Fort Worth's restaurant inspections function on a demerit system: Zero demerits is considered a perfect score, and restaurants that receive over 30 demerits are required to fix the worst problems immediately and remedy the rest within 48 hours.
No restaurant received over 30 demerits in this round of inspections, according to the report.
One restaurant was closed for serious health violations: Basic Bar, located at 904 Houston St., had a score of 13 and was closed due to issues with hot water temperatures and wastewater not draining properly.

Golden Chick, located at 2820 E. Berry St., had a score of 16. Fruit fly-like insects were observed near a beverage station and the restaurant was warned that repeat violations would be subject to legal action, according to the report.
Two businesses were noted to have issues with roaches or rodents:
Hot Shot Food Store, located at 4413 E. Berry St., had a score of 18. Rat droppings were found near seasoning storage and a mouse trap was seen in the kitchen, according to the report.
Bunny, located at 1888 Green Oaks Road, had a score of 11. An inspector observed a roach walking across a counter in the eatery, according to the report.
