'The Buccaneers' season 2 trailer is here to tease romance and new characters

Even more sweet sisterhood, steamy love affairs and spectacular landscapes are soon to come with the return of "The Buccaneers." The Apple TV Plus period drama-comedy will debut its second season on June 18, with one new episode dropping on the streaming service every Wednesday through August 6. And fans now have a much-anticipated early look with the season's first official trailer, teasing more 1870s London drama set to Chappell Roan's present-day "Good Luck Babe." On May 22, Apple TV Plus released a fresh two-minute trailer that kicks off with Nan St. George (Kristine Froseth) navigating her new marriage to Theo, Duke of Tintagel (Guy Remmers) all while still seemingly harboring feelings for Guy Thwarte (Matthew Broome). 'I really want to make this version of my life work. I have to let Guy go," she can be heard declaring in the new clip. Speaking of Guy, we see him and Jinny St. George (Imogen Waterhouse) arriving somewhere warm, sunny and decidedly un-England-y. "It's been months since Jinny and I left England," Broome's character can be heard in the trailer. "Everything has changed, except the way I feel." Needless to stay, the drama between Nan and Guy is far from over. Check out the full trailer below: The logline for season 2 promises a new chapter for the young American Buccaneers, one packed with "sisterhood, romance, wit, steamy love affairs, extravagant gowns, spectacular landscapes and jaw-dropping plot-twists. " Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. 'Now the Buccaneers are no longer the invaders — England is their home. In fact, they're practically running the place,' the synopsis reads. 'Nan is the Duchess of Tintagel, the most influential woman in the country. Conchita is Lady Brightlingsea, heroine to a wave of young American heiresses. And Jinny is on every front page, wanted for the kidnapping of her unborn child. "All of the girls have been forced to grow up and now have to fight to be heard, as they wrestle with romance, lust, jealousy, births and deaths … themes consuming all women of any age, no matter what year it is. Last time we got a taste of England. This time we're in for a veritable feast.' Along with returning cast members, including Kristine Frøseth, Alisha Boe, Aubri Ibrag, Josie Totah, Imogen Waterhouse, Mia Threapleton and Emmy Award nominee Christina Hendricks, the sophomore installment will welcome several new faces to the ensemble, including Greg Wise, Jacob Ifan, Grace Ambrose, Maria Almeida and, notably, "Gossip Girl" favorite Leighton Meester, who pops up in the final moments of the new trailer. We're very ready for all of the stylish Victorian shenanigans yet to come. Tom's Guide will keep you posted on all things related to the second season of "The Buccaneers", including casting intel, new teaser clips, plot details and more.

Chappell Roan recalls reaction to hearing her music on radio for first time

The Pink Pony Club singer has been dropping music consistently since 2020 but she didn't find mainstream success until she released her debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, in 2023 and the single Good Luck, Babe! in spring 2024. During an interview with W Magazine, Chappell recalled her reaction when she heard herself on the airwaves for the first time. "I think it was in an Uber when I was on tour. I heard Good Luck, Babe. I grabbed my friend's hand and I was like…'

Chappell Roan May Be Headed For Her First No. 1 — With A Half-Decade-Old Single

Chappell Roan's 'Pink Pony Club' rises to a new peak of No. 2 on the U.K.'s streaming songs chart, ... More nearly giving the star her first No. 1 on the tally. FRANKLIN, TENNESSEE - OCTOBER 01: Chappell Roan performs on stage during the Chappell Roan: The Midwest Princess Tour at FirstBank Amphitheater on October 01, 2024 in Franklin, Tennessee. (Photo by) Getty Images For more than a year now, Chappell Roan has stood out as one of the most exciting names in pop music. She broke out in a major way in early 2024 with "Good Luck, Babe!," a standalone single, though the excitement surrounding that cut helped make her debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess a global sensation. A number of tunes featured on the set's tracklist went on to become major commercial successes as well. Roan is currently pushing a pair of tracks: one aimed at country audiences and one targeting pop fans. "Pink Pony Club," the poppier of the two, is performing incredibly well for a tune that's been out for years now. This frame, it reaches a new peak on one ranking in the United Kingdom — almost giving the singer-songwriter her first champion. At the moment in that country, "Pink Pony Club" can be found on half a dozen U.K. charts. It's living inside the top 10 on more than half of them, and it's just one space away from leading the charge on two of the six tallies. This frame, "Pink Pony Club" gallops to No. 2 on the Official Streaming chart, reaching a new all-time high. It comes within striking distance of giving Roan a very special No. 1. No. 2 is Roan's previously set high point on the Official Streaming chart, which ranks the most-played tracks in the U.K. on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and other services. She previously stalled in the runner-up space with "Good Luck, Babe!," which spent 55 weeks on the roster. Despite being one of the most exciting breakout acts of the last year or two, Roan has never claimed the No. 1 most-streamed tune in the U.K. — at least not yet. In the coming few weeks, it's entirely possible that "Pink Pony Club" will climb again, giving her an initial leader. Streams are largely keeping "Pink Pony Club" afloat, as the tune holds at No. 2 on the Official Singles chart. That ranking, which takes into account all forms of consumption, is the most competitive in the U.K. "Pink Pony Club" has already led the charge on that list and stands out as her only winner. Two other tunes — "Good Luck, Babe!" and "The Giver" — missed the mark by just one space. Chappell Roan is a Sales and Streaming Success "Pink Pony Club" is also selling well, as it lives inside the top 10 on both the Official Singles Sales and Official Singles Downloads charts this week. The cut does drop from the highest tier when it comes to physical purchases, but that's not unusual for a tune that's been selling well for months now. Roan released "Pink Pony Club" in 2020, and she wrote it the year prior. The track was originally a standalone tune before she made it big, and it was later included on her album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess . While it was always a fan favorite — especially for those who had been following her before she became famous — "Pink Pony Club" became a worldwide smash after Roan performed it at the 2025 Grammys. She ended up taking home Best New Artist that night, and the track was promoted as a single shortly afterward, rising to new heights and, in some instances, even outpacing "Good Luck, Babe!," the cut that brought her to superstardom.

David Eustace backs Colourful King to ‘continue to improve'

An in-form David Eustace hopes Colourful King can continue his rise when the three-year-old contests the Class Three Hong Kong China Rugby Cup Handicap (1,000m) under Andrea Atzeni at Happy Valley on Wednesday night. Eustace revelled in a first Hong Kong treble on Sunday and the 32-year-old is eyeing more momentum when he saddles four runners – Brave Witness, Colourful King, Jumbo Fortune and Charity Together – at the midweek meeting. Colourful King has raced twice in Hong Kong, winning his most recent effort by a nose over the reopposing Youthful Spirits. 'He did it by the barest of margins. It certainly looked like luck went our way that night and it's good to get the win obviously. He's a horse who I think will continue to improve,' said Eustace of Colourful King, who has drawn gate four. Colourful King nails Youthful Spirits! 😱@EustaceRacing's son of Blue Point, a two-time winner at Sandown in Australia, gets off the mark in Hong Kong with @Atzenijockey at Happy Valley...#HappyWednesday | #HKracing — HKJC Racing (@HKJC_Racing) March 19, 2025 'He's the type of horse who is a still a bit nervy and a bit unsure of himself, so I think he can gradually improve with the more racing he has. It was great to get the win and hopefully he can keep progressing. 'It does look like they'll go fairly quick and he has a nice gate to stalk and be strong late. The encouraging thing for me as well is that he looks like he'll get 1,200m, especially around the Valley when asked to. It does just give us options.' Eustace has 23 wins through his first season training in Hong Kong. His treble last weekend came via Regency Happy Star, Good Luck Babe and Sea Sapphire. 'You obviously don't go expecting that by any means but I thought we had a strong hand and the horses were racing well. Hoping to get one, maybe two but to get three was a great thrill. It shows the horses are in good form and the staff are working hard and well,' Eustace said. Comeback trail continues! 💛💙 Chasing a possible HK$22 million G1 Chairman's Sprint Prize (1200m) start, Lucky Sweynesse rolled comfortably through his morning barrier trial at Sha Tin today... 📍 Sha Tin, 27 Apr | #FWDChampionsDay — HKJC Racing (@HKJC_Racing) April 8, 2025 Meanwhile, Matthew Poon Ming-fai worked two key FWD Champions Day hopes in barrier trials on Tuesday morning ahead of the HK$74 million Sha Tin showcase on April 27. Stepping out in the first heat ahead of a possible Group One Chairman's Sprint Prize (1,200m) return, Lucky Sweynesse broke smoothly from the wide draw before picking up between runners to win in 57.95 seconds over 1,000m on turf at Sha Tin. 'I think with every trial he is getting better and better. Now he is almost ready to race – if he pulls up well, then he is almost ready to race,' Poon said. Ahead of his clash with Australian star Mr Brightside in the Group One Champions Mile, Voyage Bubble impressed Poon as he crossed the line first over a mile on turf. 'He jumped super, he knows what to do – he travelled nicely and relaxed. I just asked him a little bit and he quickens. How good is that?' Poon said.
